Removing the effects of the site in brain imaging machine-learning – Measurement and extendable benchmark

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2023
Multisite machine-learning neuroimaging studies, such as those conducted by the ENIGMA Consortium, need to remove the differences between sites to avoid effects of the site (EoS) that may prevent or fraudulently help the creation of prediction models ...

Makt- og demokratiutredningen – politikkens retrett?

open access: yesNorsk Statsvitenskapelig Tidsskrift, 2017
Makt-og demokratiutredningen (1998-2003) ble iverksatt ved stortingsvedtak høsten 1997, blant annet under inntrykk av en omfattende globaliseringsdebatt.

Antibacterial Effects of Essential Oils of Seven Medicinal-Aromatic Plants Against the Fish Pathogen Aeromonas veronii bv. sobria: To Blend or Not to Blend?

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Despite progress achieved, there is limited available information about the antibacterial activity of constituents of essential oils (EOs) from different medicinal-aromatic plants (MAPs) against fish pathogens and the complex interactions of blended EOs ...

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Non-target effects of ten essential oils on the egg parasitoid Trichogramma evanescens

open access: yesPeer Community Journal, 2023
Essential oils (EOs) are increasingly used as biopesticides due to their insecticidal potential. This study addresses their non-target effects on a biological control agent: the egg parasitoid Trichogramma evanescens. In particular, we tested whether EOs

Clusterization‐Triggered Emission from Cellulose‐Based Luminophores in Dilute Aqueous Solution through Imine Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Clusterization‐triggered emission is realized in dilute aqueous solution by introducing imine linkages into cellulose‐based luminophores. Imine functionalization creates O/N‐rich, hydrogen‐bonded clustered microenvironments that stabilize emissive states and restrict molecular motions. Luminescence is tunable by amine type and multiplicity.

A Super‐Adhesive Air Filter With Capillarity‐Mediated Spontaneous Particle Absorption via Dynamic Bond Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We address the inherently weak particle adhesion of conventional air filters by coating a dynamically crosslinked adhesive layer that delivers capillarity‐driven strong adhesion and particle absorption mediated by dynamic bond exchange. The resulting enhancement in particle adhesion enables efficient ultrafast (up to 20 m s−1) and omnidirectional ...
