Vitamin E: function and metabolism

The FASEB Journal, 1999
ABSTRACT Although vitamin E has been known as an essential nutrient for reproduction since 1922, we are far from understanding the mechanisms of its physiological functions. Vitamin E is the term for a group of tocopherols and tocotrienols, of which α‐tocopherol has the highest biological activity.

Linear independence of values of $ E$-functions

Sbornik: Mathematics, 1996
Summary: We prove a general theorem that establishes a relation between linear and algebraic independence of values at algebraic points of \(E\)-functions and properties of the ideal formed by all algebraic equations relating these functions over the field of rational functions.

Synthesis of E functionalized prenyl orthothioesters

Tetrahedron Letters, 1991
Abstract A stereospecific route to (E)-3-[tris (phenylthio)-methyl]-2-methyl propenal 5 and to (E) 3-( 4 -methylthio 1,3-dithiane-2-yl)-2-methyl propenal 7 is described.

Some Integrals Relating to the I e -Function

Mathematics of Computation, 1983
The author presents two tables of (definite and indefinite) integrals which occur in statistical communication theory and noise analysis. They are related to the so-called \(I_ e\)-function \[ I_ e(k,z)=\int^{z}_{0}e^{-x}I_ 0(kx)dx, \] where \(I_ 0(x)\) is the modified Bessel function.

The Role of e-Functions

2014
Functions and distributions are transferred between a symmetric space and its tangent space at the origin by means of the exponential mapping. We introduce the concept of e-function, which appears when transferring convolution products of invariant functions or distributions. Admitting the existence of this function (proved in Chap.

[Apolipoprotein E function in the nervous system].

Neurologia i neurochirurgia polska, 1998
Human ApoE is a plasma and cerebrospinal fluid protein that serves as a ligand for low density lipoprotein receptors and, through its interaction with these receptors, appears to be involved in the transport of cholesterol and other lipids among the nervous cells. ApoE is synthesized by astrocytes in brain and by macrophages in peripheral nerves during

e-Functions and the Campbell-Hausdorff Formula

2014
The goal of this chapter is to adapt the Kashiwara-Vergne method to an arbitrary symmetric space. We show that it admits an e-function, which can be constructed by means of the Campbell-Hausdorff formula. We prove several properties of this function which reflect, by Chap. 3, on invariant analysis on the space. The results extend to line bundles.
