Information foraging in E-voting
CHI '09 Extended Abstracts on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2009In this paper, we present a case study of human-information interaction in the online realm of politics. The case study consists of a participant observed while searching and browsing the internet for campaign information in a mock-voting situation while taking notes that were to be shared with others.

This chapter contributes to the debate around e-voting by describing and discussing the experiences of two adopting countries: India and the Philippines. With careful, qualified comparison of the experience, the author overviews the possibility for adoption in Africa. Africa often finds itself at the centre of attention with respect to elections.

This chapter evaluates the UK government strategy to promote electronic voting through the public policy process as an integral part of the e-government agenda to enhance participatory democracy. It argues that the formulation of the present policy is flawed as it lacks a diffusion strategy to enhance the likelihood of policy adoption.

Abstract Information technology has changed the way people practice their everyday activities. In this article, the application of IT for election is discussed. The requirements of e-voting systems are described and experiences of achieving e-voting in small scales are explained. Finally, the results are analyzed and a conclusion is made.

Systems for electronic voting (e-voting systems), including systems for voting over the Internet and systems for voting in a voting booth, are employed in many countries. However, most of the systems used in practice today do not provide a sufficient level of security. For example, programming errors and malicious behavior easily go undetected. In fact,
