ABSTRACT In vascular plants, genes in the plastid genome are transcribed by two types of RNA polymerases, namely, phage‐type nuclear‐encoded and bacterial‐type plastid‐encoded plastid RNA polymerases (NEP and PEP, respectively). Eudicots, including Arabidopsis, carry two isoforms of NEP, RPOTp and RPOTmp.

Extreme rain‐on‐snow events forming basal‐ice can shape high Arctic plant communities as strongly as summer warming. Icing delays soil warming and early growth but compensatory responses follow, at the cost of reproduction. Summer warming offsets most icing impacts, enhancing growth and reversing phenological delays, though inflorescence remains ...

Mosses from the Mascarenes - 6 [PDF]
Sixty taxa of mosses, mainly pleurocarps, are reported from the Mascarenes. Two are new to Afr.3 sensu Index Muscorum, i.e., Brachythecium plumosum (Hedwig) Schimper in BSG and Palamocladium sericeum (Jaeger) C.Müller. Nine are new to the Mascarenes, i.e.

Web Inception: Small Australia Spiders Construct Orb Webs in the Aerial Webs of Larger Hosts
Some spiders construct aerial webs which not only allow the web hosts to capture prey from the air but provide novel habitat that other spiders can exploit. In this study, we report on smaller orb‐weaving spiders constructing complete aerial webs among the anchoring threads of webs of larger spiders in Australia; a unique interaction as the extended ...

Abstract Introduction Peatlands are crucial for carbon storage and biodiversity but face increasing human degradation. The Moss Layer Transfer Technique (MLTT) has emerged as an effective method for restoring Sphagnum‐dominated vegetation in post‐extracted horticultural peatlands. Objectives This study evaluates vegetation restoration trajectories over
