Correlating the Impact Severity of Spherical and Non-Spherical Projectiles at Hypervelocity

open access: yesAerospace
The design of spacecraft protection against orbital debris (OD) is generally based on experiments and models involving spherical projectiles. However, observations of collision fragments from ground-based satellite impact experiments have shown that ...

Quantifying Subsurface Weak in‐Plane Magnetization of Mixed Phase BiFeO3 by Scanning Nitrogen Vacancy Magnetometry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.

E2E Architecture

open access: yes, 2018
This chapter describes the current trends in the overall design of 5th generation (5G) network architecture. While the previous chapters were mainly focused on the description of the requirements and the problem space, from now on we will provide details on the currently envisioned 5G solutions.

Pull‐and‐Push Nanotherapeutic Hydrogels: Scavenging Inflammatory Triggers While Driving Tissue Regeneration in Burn Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A nanounit‐assembled hydrogel employing a “pull‐and‐push” strategy simultaneously scavenges pro‐inflammatory cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and delivers regenerative therapeutics in response to burn‐induced hyperthermia. By repolarizing macrophages and promoting angiogenesis, this multifunctional platform accelerates burn wound healing, offering a blueprint for

Non-invasive characterization of color variation in plant-based meat burgers using portable hyperspectral imaging device and multivariate image analysis

open access: yesFuture Foods
The excessive color variation in plant-based meat burgers (PB) during storage, arising from the interplay of multiple ingredients, suggests the acute need for real-time color monitoring techniques.

Time‐Resolved Magnetization Switching Dynamics Driven by Orbital Torques

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Du et al. reveal nanosecond magnetization switching driven by orbital currents using time‐resolved Hall detection. The measurements separate domain nucleation from domain wall propagation and show that Joule heating strongly assists switching by lowering energy barriers.

Real-time canola damage detection: An end-to-end framework with semi-automatic crusher and lightweight ShuffleNetV2_YOLOv5s

open access: yesSmart Agricultural Technology
The current method employed in detecting damages present in canola kernels is inefficient and time-consuming. The sample preparation process is laborious and the judgment between sound and damaged seeds using visual methods is prone to errors as they are

Interface Effects in Ultrathin Silicon on Insulator Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work establishes a systematic framework to discriminate how bulk and interface phenomena affect charge transport in ultrathin P‐doped silicon‐on‐insulator (SOI) films. For Si films below 15 nm, electrical characterization demonstrates that interface states drive charge transport, shifting the metal‐insulator transition (MIT) critical dopant ...
