Diabetes Status Modifies the Association Between Cardiorespiratory Fitness and Coronary Heart Disease: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 17, Issue 12, December 2025.
In this cross‐sectional study, the protective effect of cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) on coronary heart disease (CHD) risk differed between non‐diabetic and diabetic individuals, with a significantly greater reduction in CHD risk observed among participants with diabetes who had higher CRF levels.

Coupling Modelling and Fault Propagation Simulation Method for Power Grid‐Centric Urban Lifeline Systems Under Extreme Disasters

open access: yesEnergy Internet, Volume 2, Issue 3, Page 255-273, October 2025.
ABSTRACT The interconnection of urban critical infrastructure poses new challenges to the secure operation of power grid‐centric urban lifeline systems. The interdependencies among infrastructure systems increase the risk of cascading fault propagation, thereby threatening urban public safety.

Economic Policy Challenges*

open access: yesEconomic Papers: A journal of applied economics and policy, Volume 44, Issue 3, Page 210-216, September 2025.
This article is about the interaction between policymaking and research and also between policymakers and academia: what that should look like, and whether that is working as well as it could at the moment. The wealth of data and computational capabilities today, coupled with the breadth and depth of theory, could be usefully channelled into better ...

Triclinic polymorph of 4-[4-(4-formylphenoxy)butoxy]benzaldehyde

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2013
The title compound, C18H18O4, is a triclinic polymorph of the previously reported monoclinic polymorph [Han & Zhen (2005). Acta Cryst. E61, o4358–o4359]. In the crystal of the triclinic polymorph, molecules are linked by two pairs of C—H..

Redetermined structure of β-dl-methionine at 105 K: an example of the importance of freely refining the positions of the amino-group H atoms

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2014
Diffraction data were taken from the contribution named `β-dl-Methionine at 105 K′ by Alagar et al. [Acta Cryst. (2005). E61, o1165–o1167]. Refinement of the coordinates of the three amino H atoms, previously constrained to an idealized geometry, shows ...

Navigating infection by pathogenic spirochetes: The host‐bacteria interface at the atomic level

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract Pathogenic spirochetes bind and interact with various host structures and molecules throughout the course of infection. By utilizing their outer surface molecules, spirochetes can effectively modulate their dissemination, interact with immune system regulators, and select specific destination niches within the host.
