3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Parametric model of young infants’ eardrum and ear canal impedances supporting immittance measurement results. Part I: Development of the model

open access: yesActa Acustica, 2022
Wideband acoustic immitance (WAI) measurements provide an objective means to detect pathological middle ear conditions. However, for ears of young infants, it is still difficult to make clear statements about the middle ear status based on WAI ...

Longitudinal analysis of ear infection and hearing impairment: findings from 6-year prospective cohorts of Australian children [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND Middle ear infection is common in childhood. Despite its prevalence, there is little longitudinal evidence about the impact of ear infection, particularly its association to hearing loss.

FeDSNP‐Pa Nanoassemblies: A Triple‐Action Therapeutic Strategy Targeting Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, and Pyroptosis for Retinal Ganglion Cell Protection in Glaucoma

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
FeDSNP‐Pa, a metallized nanoparticle loaded with sodium pyruvate (Pa), exerts triple therapeutic effects by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS), suppressing inflammatory responses, and inhibiting pyroptosis signaling pathways. This multifunctional neuroprotective strategy protecting retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) from elevated intraocular pressure ...

Middle Ear Barotrauma among Licensed Para-pilots of a Metropolitan City: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Nepal Medical Association, 2022
Introduction: Middle ear barotrauma is a tissue injury to the ear secondary to inadequate pressure equalisation between the middle ear and the external environment. Paragliding, though an exciting sport, has its own risks and hazards.

Deformation of avian middle ear structures under static pressure loads, and potential regulation mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Static pressure changes can alter the configuration and mechanical behavior of the chain of ossicles, which may affect the acoustic transfer function. In mammals, the Eustachian tube plays an important role in restoring ambient middle ear pressure, hence

Steep‐Switching Memory FET for Noise‐Resistant Reservoir Computing System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate the steep‐switching memory FET with CuInP2S6/h‐BN/α‐In2Se3 heterostructure for application in noise‐resistant reservoir computing systems. The proposed device achieves steep switching characteristics (SSPGM = 19 mV/dec and SSERS = 23 mV/dec) through stabilization between CuInP2S6 and h‐BN.
