Foam Ear Protectors for Burnt Ears
Journal of Burn Care & Rehabilitation, 1989Foam ear protectors were developed at the Royal Brisbane Hospital for use with selected patients with burns to the ears. The protectors assist in preventing pressure necrosis of the ear and damage to skin grafts. They permit visualization of the ears after grafting and allow the patient to sleep in a side-lying position if desired.

Distribution of ear drops in normal ears
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1991AbstractEar drops are prescribed widely with little thought for the distribution inside the ear canal. This study compares the distribution of water and oil based drops. The results indicate that, under the test conditions, the penetration of ear drops is extremely variable.

The important points for surgical treatment are optimal incision for the cartilage and excision without injuring important structures deep in the face and neck.
