A Mississippian (early Carboniferous) tetrapod showing early diversification of the hindlimbs. [PDF]

open access: yesCommun Biol, 2022
AbstractThe taxonomically diverse terrestrial tetrapod fauna from the late Mississippian East Kirkton Limestone includes the earliest known members of stem Amphibia and stem Amniota. Here we name and describe a new East Kirkton tetrapod with an unusual hindlimb morphology reminiscent of that of several stem- and primitive crown amniotes.

Paleomagnetism of the early carboniferous thickness of Tuva [PDF]

open access: yesRussian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2022
Paleomagnetic studies of the early Carboniferous strata of Tuva have been carried out. As a result of the component analysis, post-folding secondary and pre-folding, probably close to the primary components of magnetization, were identified in them ...

Early sarcopterygian morphological disparity through the Devonian-Carboniferous crisis [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
Major morphological adaptations characterized the early evolutionary history of sarcopterygians during the Devonian (419–359 Ma) and the Carboniferous (359–299 Ma), punctuated by environmental changes and biodiversity crises.

Early Carboniferous nautiloids from the Central Sahara, southern Algeria

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Taxonomy, 2022
Coiled nautiloids of the Tournaisian and early to middle Viséan (Early Carboniferous) have so far only become known from a few regions. Here we describe material from five localities in southern Algeria; these belong to four stratigraphic horizons (two ...

A new origin of the ‘modern’ lungfish dentition revealed by taxonomic overlap between Devonian and Carboniferous dipnoans [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ
Lungfishes (Dipnoi, Sarcopterygii) initially radiated in the Early Devonian, and reached the apogee of their diversity during this period, especially with regard to their dentitions.

Carboniferous to Early Permian tectono-sedimentary evolution in the western Junggar Basin, NW China: implication for the evolution of Junggar Ocean

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
The discovery of Carboniferous hydrocarbon source rocks in the Mahu-Shawan Sag has implied considerable exploration potential in the Carboniferous strata in the western Junggar Basin.

The ammonoids from the Gattendorfia Limestone of Gattendorf (Devonian–Carboniferous boundary; Upper Franconia, Germany)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Taxonomy, 2023
The early Tournaisian (Early Carboniferous; Mississippian) ammonoids from the classical abandoned limestone quarry of Gattendorf (Upper Franconia) are revised, using the historical collections as well as so far undescribed material.

Tectonic relationship between the Kelameili range and the Dajing depression: Insights into the Carboniferous tectonic-sedimentary framework

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2020
Based on comprehensive analysis of typical outcrops, latest deep wells drilled and high resolution seismic profiles in the study area, we examined the geologic structure of the Kelameili range, and analyzed the structural relationship between the ...
