Early Cretaceous insect faunas and palaeoenvironment
Cretaceous Research, 1995Abstract The record of Cretaceous insect life has increased dramatically in the last few decades. A new family database suggests that a peak of diversity was reached in the Early Cretaceous, the biggest in the Phanerozoic prior to the Tertiary. The subsequent decline is attributable to the rapid replacement of older floras by angiosperms.
