Possible early Devonian conodontophorid provinces

Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 1976
Abstract The Early Devonian paleobiogeographic distribution of conodontophorids of the families Polygnathidae and Icriodontidae is analyzed and two zoogeographic provinces are recognized, viz. the Tasman-Cordilleran Province and the Aurelian Province.

Early Devonian suprasubduction ophiolites of the southern Urals

Geotectonics, 2010
The composition of ophiolites widespread in the southern Urals shows that they were formed in a suprasubduction setting. Low-Ti and high-Mg sheeted dikes and volcanic rocks vary from basalt to andesite, and many varieties belong to boninite series. The rocks of this type extend as a 600-km tract.

Latest Devonian and Early Carboniferous Reefs

2002
Abstract Latest Devonian through mid-Carboniferous (Famennian-Bashkirian) time represents an interval of profound change in the style and extent of carbonate buildups and in the composition of buildup communities. Shallow-water reefs and/or reef mounds were widely distributed during the Famennian, despite the global decline since the ...

New radiolarians from the Devonian of the southern Ural Mountains: 1. Early-Middle Devonian (Late Emsian-Early Eifelian)

Paleontological Journal, 2008
Late Emsian-Early Eifelian radiolarians from the southern Ural Mountains are recorded and described for the first time. They come from the Kamennaya Gora section on the Tanalyk River near the town of Buribay, Bashkiria. The new Late Emsian-Early Eifelian radiolarian assemblage consists of 20 species of 11 genera of spherical, discoidal, spindle-shaped,

Placocystellain the Early Devonian (Lochkovian) of central Victoria

Alcheringa: An Australasian Journal of Palaeontology, 2013
The South African allanicytidiid mitrate carpoid Placocystella africana (Reed) is recorded for the first time from Australasia having been collected from a Lochkovian bed of the Humevale Formation at Mooroolbark in eastern Melbourne. The Southern Hemisphere Allanicytidiidae incorporating five monospecific genera in Brazil, South Africa, Tasmania ...

Diversification of Land Plants in the Early and Middle Devonian

Notes for a Short Course: Studies in Geology, 1986
While fossil evidence supports a mid-Silurian or earlier establishment of land plants, it is clear that major diversification occurred in the Devonian. This has been summarized in several ways in recent years - the number of plant taxa (perhaps best expressed at the generic level) rapidly increases from the Early to Middle Devonian (Knoll et al., 1984;

Paleogeographic distribution of Early Devonian plant traits

PALAIOS, 1987
One problem in Early Devonian phytogeography is determining the extent to which regional taxonomic usage rather than differences in the distribution offossilplants determine phytogeographic units. Because the same Early Devonian phytogeographic units can be delineated based on the paleogeographic distribution of eitherfossil genera or plants traits ...
