Early postoperative enteral feeding through a needle catheter jejunostomy

open access: yes, 1984
The advantages of early postoperative enteral nutrition through a needle catheter jejunostomy in 13 operated children (1 day to 14 years) are analysed. They presented various surgical or medical diseases.

Early Nutritional Patterns and Metabolic Biomarkers Associated with ROP Severity

open access: yesMedicina
Background and Objectives: Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) remains a leading cause of preventable childhood blindness, with its severity influenced by a complex interaction between nutritional status, metabolic maturation, and systemic vulnerability ...

Elastomeric 3D‐Printed Microenvironments Enable Nanonewton Force Measurements in Healthy and Diseased Human Pluripotent Stem Cell‐Derived Neuroepithelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present elastomeric three‐dimensional (3D) microstructures fabricated via two‐photon polymerization (2PP) and post‐processed through wet etching, for quantifying nanonewton (nN)‐scale forces applied by healthy and diseased neural cells. The mechanically characterized free‐standing beam architectures enable measurement of traction forces of ...

Beyond Nanoporosity: A CO2‐Conditioned Glassy Matrix Contributes to the Brittle‐to‐Ductile Transition of Nanocellular Polyetherimide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The mechanical performance of nanocellular polyetherimide cannot be explained by nanoporosity alone. It is shown that CO2 saturation and desorption leave a distinct mechanical signature in the glassy matrix before foaming. This matrix contribution provides a new route to understand and optimize the brittle to ductile transition in nanocellular polymers.

Advanced Materials for Biologics Delivery to Brain Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Material innovation is central to unlocking the therapeutic potential of biologics against many central nervous system diseases, including brain cancer. By engineering carriers with controlled transport, targeting, and release properties, advanced materials can overcome the blood–brain barrier and tumor microenvironment, improving the delivery of ...

Bioengineered Interfaces for Peripheral Nerve Sensory Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Half of amputees abandon their prosthetics for lack of feeling. This review charts the full path from peripheral nerve injury to restored sensation, through surgical, regenerative, noninvasive, and implanted approaches, and shows how injury type and interface material properties determine which strategy can deliver naturalistic feedback, and why ...

Neonatal enteral feeding tube as loci for Enterobacteriaceae colonisation and risk to neonatal health [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The incidence of neonatal infections caused by Enterobacteriaceae has been increasing in recent years, and they are now recognised as the predominant causative agents in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) outbreaks. Klebsiella spp. and Serratia spp. are

Preventing common enteral feeding complications in critically ill adult patients

open access: yes, 2023
[[abstract]]Nutritional support provides critically ill patients with energy and nutrients required to face the demands of their illness and stress. For those unable to ingest orally, enteral feeding rather than parenteral feeding is recommended, as the ...

Impact of enteral nutrition on nitrogen balance in patients of trauma

open access: yesJournal of Emergencies, Trauma and Shock, 2010
Background : A prospective study of 50 patients of trauma was carried out at a tertiary level trauma center in Mumbai. The aim was to study the hypermetabolic response to trauma and the effect of early enteral feeding and nutritional supplementation in ...

Strong Coupling in Bulk Nanoplasmonic Nanoplatelet Perovskite Scintillators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A bulk scintillating nanocomposite is engineered from CsPbBr3 nanoplatelets and Ag nanocubes to support exciton–plasmon strong coupling under X‐ray excitation. The resulting hybrid polaritonic states appear directly in radioluminescence, opening a route toward polariton‐enabled scintillator design beyond conventional Purcell enhancement.
