Silent challenge: Early kidney transplant failure and cardiomyopathy

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2022
Differentiation of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy phenotypes is challenging but crucial for appropriate management. We report a case of myocardial oxalate deposition as an infrequent cause of infiltrative cardiomyopathy.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Venous distensibility may be an indicator of early arteriovenous fistula failure, a retrospective single-centre cohort study

open access: yesRenal Failure
Background Arteriovenous-fistula (AVF) are crucial for hemodialysis access, yet they frequently experience early failure. While studies have identified potential patient and clinical risk factors, these findings remain inconsistent.

Early Warning Signs of Project Failure

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Despite the improvement in utilization of project management tools and techniques over the years, there are still many projects failed to meet their objectives. Early warning signs becomes one of the concepts used to detect the potential cause of failure

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Can We Predict Early Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy Failure? The Role of Ultra-Early Postoperative Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Predicting Early Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy Failure

open access: yesWorld Neurosurgery: X, 2019
Background: The success of endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) depends on multiple preoperative and intraoperative factors. The multifactorial influence adds an element of unpredictability to the outcome of the most well-planned procedure.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an
