Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Autism spectrum disorder common variants associated with regional lobe volume variations at birth: cross-sectional study in 273 European term neonates in developing human connectome project

open access: yesTranslational Psychiatry
Increasing lines of evidence suggest cerebral overgrowth in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) children in early life, but few studies have examined the effect of ASD common genetic variants on brain volumes in a general paediatric population.

Anamorphic development and extended parental care in a 520 million-year-old stem-group euarthropod from China

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2018
Background Extended parental care is a complex reproductive strategy in which progenitors actively look after their offspring up to – or beyond – the first juvenile stage in order to maximize their fitness.

Low-dose penicillin in early life induces long-term changes in murine gut microbiota, brain cytokines and behavior

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
There is increasing concern about potential long-term effects of antibiotics on children’s health. Epidemiological studies have revealed that early-life antibiotic exposure can increase the risk of developing immune and metabolic diseases, and rodent ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Nutritional regulation of fetal growth and implications for productive life in ruminants

open access: yesAnimal, 2010
The maternal nutritional and metabolic environment is critical in determining not only the reproductive success but also the long-term health and viability of the offspring.
