Composition Theory: A Pragmatist Specification of the Mesosocial

open access: yesJournal for the Theory of Social Behaviour, Volume 56, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This article develops composition theory as a pragmatist specification of the mesosocial. Existing theories describe situated social life without adequately explaining the mechanisms that produce it. Recent pragmatist scholarship has established important foundations: Gross on mechanisms, Lizardo on habit, and Hallett on inhabited ...

Activation of the inner critic increases speech illusions and negative emotional valence of perceived speech

open access: yesPsychology and Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice, Volume 99, Issue 1, Page 80-96, March 2026.
Abstract Objectives Research consistently reports an association between auditory hallucinations and traumatic experiences, yet the psychological mechanisms underpinning this relationship remain poorly understood. Empirical evidence suggests that enduring dispositions, including early maladaptive schemas, interact with immediate stressors to elicit ...

Human Atlas of Tooth Decay Progression: Identification of Cellular Mechanisms Driving the Switch from Dental Pulp Repair Toward Irreversible Pulpitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, 9 February 2026.
Tooth decay progression transforms the dental pulp response from repair to fibrosis. At early stages, stromal cells reprogram to repair the extra cellular matrix (ECM), blood vessels, and nerves, remodel and grow, keeping repair possible. In advanced decay, hypoxia, and vessel regression, in complement with an immune switch, fuel nerve degeneration and

SETDB2 Mitigates Podocyte Dysfunction in Diabetic Kidney Disease Through Epigenetic Silencing of SMAD3

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 9, 13 February 2026.
SETDB2 epigenetically represses Smad3 transcription by increasing H3K9me3 enrichment at its promoter, thereby mitigating podocyte dysfunction in DKD. The transcription factor TCF21 binds directly to the Setdb2 promoter and enhances its expression in podocytes. Abstract Podocyte dysfunction represents both an early pathological hallmark and a key driver

A Sirtuin‐1‐Targeted Gene‐Activating Tetrahedral DNA Attenuates Bladder Fibrosis by Restoring Mitophagy in Fibroblasts via the SIRT1‐FOXO3‐BNIP3 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, 9 February 2026.
The SIRT1‐targeted saRNA‐delivering tetrahedral DNA (TSA) treatment effectively upregulates SIRT1 expression, which subsequently promotes FOXO3A deacetylation. This deacetylation event relieves FOXO3A's transcriptional repression on the BNIP3 gene, thereby initiating PINK1‐PARKIN‐dependent mitophagy.

Female‐biased astrocytic priming shapes early locus coeruleus vulnerability in an Aβ oligomer milieu

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION The locus coeruleus (LC) is an early site of Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology, yet the role of brainstem astrocytes in early, sex‐dependent vulnerability remains unclear. METHODS In 2‐ to 3‐month‐old APP/PS1 mice, we combined in vivo proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) of the brainstem with region‐resolved molecular ...
