COVID‐19 Amplifies Sex‐Specific Dopamine and Glial Responses in a Parkinson's Disease Mouse Model

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Exposure to environmental agents, including viral infections, may increase Parkinson's disease (PD) susceptibility, especially in males, but the neurodegenerative risk extent of COVID‐19 remains uncertain. Objectives We investigated the plausible link between severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) infection and

A Voxel‐Wise T2 Distribution Framework for Lesion Severity Stratification and Treatment‐Response Assessment in Stroke: Insights Into Suberoylanilide Hydroxamic Acid‐Induced Neuroprotection

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate lesion severity distribution in ischaemic brain lesions in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) subjected to 90‐min transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO), and to determine whether epigenetically based neuroprotection modifies lesion severity profiles using a voxel‐wise T2 distribution framework.

One Size Does Not Fit All: Establishing Anticipated Baseline Intravesical Pressures Adjusted for Position and Body Mass Index

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Accurate measurement of intravesical pressure (Pves) during multichannel urodynamic testing requires zeroing with reference to surrounding atmosphere, establishing a reference level for measuring Pves, and assessing response to coughs.

Burden of ischemic stroke in China from 1990 to 2050: A systematic review and analysis of Global Burden of Disease Study 2021

open access: yesNeuroprotection, EarlyView.
Based on GBD 2021, the study analyzed the temporal trends of ischemic stroke (IS) burden in China from 1990 to 2021 and forecasted incidence and mortality through 2050. The absolute burden of IS in China will continue to rise by 2050, driven mainly by population aging, with faster age‐standardized incidence rate growth in females than males.
