Early Pleistocene Sediments in Indiana
The Journal of Geology, 1958Exposures of both glacial and non-glacial sediments that are correlated with Kansan and Yarmouth stages have been discovered recently in southern Indiana. Distribution of Kansan stage till indicates that the Kansan glacier probably covered about the same amount of the state as did the Illinoian ice.

Making meaning from fragmentary fossils: Early Homo in the Early to early Middle Pleistocene
Journal of Human Evolution, 2023In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Journal of Human Evolution, we re-evaluate the fossil record for early Homo (principally Homo erectus, Homo habilis, and Homo rudolfensis) from early diversification and dispersal in the Early Pleistocene to the ultimate demise of H. erectus in the early Middle Pleistocene. The mid-1990s marked an important

Early Pleistocene and Holocene bryozoans from Indonesia.
Zootaxa, 2018This paper describes 40 bryozoan species, comprising one cyclostome and 39 cheilostomes (8 anascan- and 31 ascophoran-grade), obtained from early Pleistocene and Holocene samples from two localities in Indonesia. Five of the cheilostomes are described as new species: Acanthodesia variegata n. sp., Pleurocodonellina javanensis n.

Late Pleistocene climate drivers of early human migration
Nature, 2016On the basis of fossil and archaeological data it has been hypothesized that the exodus of Homo sapiens out of Africa and into Eurasia between ~50-120 thousand years ago occurred in several orbitally paced migration episodes. Crossing vegetated pluvial corridors from northeastern Africa into the Arabian Peninsula and the Levant and expanding further ...

Pleistocene and Early Holocene Glaciations
1984An overview of the geomorphic evidence of former glacial events is presented here based on a survey of the pertinent literature, evaluation of air photographs and topographic maps (Appendix 1), and my own field observations in the course of the 1970s.

An Early Pleistocene Eagle from Nebraska
The Condor, 1971Grant and Grant (1968) have proposed an explanation for the reciprocal evolution of hummingbirds and the plants upon which they feed. According to this interpretation most hummingbird-pollinated flowers, especially temperate species, have evolved from bee flowers (Grant 1961; Grant and Grant 1965). The process involves an incipient stage during which a

The Spine of Early Pleistocene Homo
2019In this chapter, we summarize vertebral remains from early Pleistocene Homo, including H. erectus, as well as H. naledi and H. floresiensis fossils from the Middle and Late Pleistocene, respectively. Two partial immature H. erectus skeletons where vertebrae are well represented are KNM-WT 15000 (“Turkana boy”) and the D2700 individual from Dmanisi ...

The Early to early Middle Pleistocene stenonoid horses from Italy [PDF]
At least five stenonoid horses have been recorded in the Early to early Middle Pleistocene Italian faunal assemblages: Equus livenzovensis, Equus stenonis, Equus stehlini, Equus altidens and large sized equids generally referred to as the so-called “Equus ex gr. E. bressanus - E. suessenbornensis”. Equus altidens and Equus suessenbornensis are a rather
