This study demonstrates an artificial polymodal nociceptor whose firing threshold is actively modulated by temperature. A volatile TiN/TiOx/ZnO/TiOx/ITO memristor shows interfacial ion–driven resistive switching and membrane‐potential‐like dynamics, enabling temperature‐dependent nociceptive behavior.

Earthquake Early Warning Systems
Because of Taiwan’s unique geographical environment, earthquake disasters occur frequently in Taiwan. The Central Weather Bureau collated earthquake data from between 1901 and 2006 (Central Weather Bureau, 2007) and found that 97 earthquakes had occurred, of which, 52 resulted in casualties.

Strategies for Loading and Releasing Peptide Therapeutics in Biodegradable Carriers
A biodegradable carrier‐based peptide delivery system is a powerful treatment platform for diverse diseases, owing to its superior therapeutic efficacy and low toxicity. This review examines the conventional peptide‐loaded carrier fabrication process and its current limitations.

Early Warning System: Empirical Results from The Signals Approach [PDF]
The signals approach was applied to 24 of the indicators around the dates of the 29 banking and the 87 currency crises. In what follows, we first compare our results for the 15 original indicators in Kaminsky and Reinhart (1996) to those presented in ...

A soft, dual‐channel hydrogel patch enables simultaneous detection of wound temperature and strain by integrating ion‐diffusion‐mediated thermoelectric and resistive sensing. The conformal design maintains stable performance during motion, capturing subtle inflammatory and mechanical changes for continuous wound monitoring.

Towards a new early warning system of financial crises [PDF]
This paper develops a new Early Warning System (EWS) model for predicting financial crises, based on a multinomial logit model. It is shown that EWS approaches based on binomial discrete-dependent-variable models can be subject to what we call a post ...

Butterfly wing scales are intricate cuticular functional nanosctructures. This perspective suggests that spatially varying material properties, cytoskeletal constraints, and growth‐driven mechanical instabilities shape the resulting nanoscale architectures created from single cells.

Early warning systems play significant roles in disaster risk reduction and management. However, a global picture of how they function on the ground, especially in developing countries, is lacking.
