Poka: A Necro‐Robot Beetle with a Measured Payload Ratio of 6847%

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Here, Poka, a necro‐robot beetle with the ability to carry more than 68 times its own weight, is introduced, making it also a walking robot with the highest payload ratio measured to date. This paper is concerned with the design, manufacture and validation of ‘Poka', a novel millimetre‐scale necro‐robot aimed at bridging the performance gap between ...

On the Main Factor That Causes the Instabilities of the Earth Rotation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Earth rotation is one of astronomical phenomena without which it is impossible to think of human life. That is why the investigation on the Earth rotation is very important and it has a long history of study. Invention of quartz clocks in the 1930s and atomic time 1950s and introduction of modern technology into astronomic observation in recent years ...

Superior Electromechanical Power at Rare‐Earth Manipulated Glassy Morphotropic Phase Transitions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An effective physical approach named Rare‐earth Manipulated Glassy Morphotropic Phase Transitions has been experimentally developed and theoretically validated to achieve significant enhancements of 135% and 50% in electrostrain and elastic modulus of lead‐free ferroelectrics respectively, further enabling the significant boost of requisite driving ...

The earth's rotation-dominated seismicity preceding the 2023 MW7.8 Gaziantep, Türkiye, earthquake

open access: yesGeodesy and Geodynamics
For earthquakes (M ≥ 4.0) occurring along and around the East Anatolian fault zone and the Dead Sea fault zone within ten years immediately before the MW7.8 Gaziantep earthquake, Türkiye, of February 6, 2023, we explored the correlation between ...

On the Inner‐Core Differential‐Rotation (Un)Resolvability From Earthquake Doublets: The Traps of Data Selection

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The phenomenon of differential rotation of the Earth's inner core relative to the mantle is a subject of interest in geodynamo modeling that has been validated by seismological observations, mainly via the earthquake‐doublets method.

Earth rotation and polar motion from laser ranging to the moon and artificial satellites [PDF]

open access: yes
Earth-based laser ranging to artificial satellites and to the moon is considered as a technique for monitoring the Earth's polar motion and diurnal rotation. The kinematics of Earth rotation as related to laser ranging is outlined.

Revealing Physical Mechanisms of Spatial Pattern Formation and Switching in Ecosystems via Nonequilibrium Landscape and Flux

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The universality of the landscape‐flux theory with the mode expansion method for analyzing spatial patterns is illustrated by applying it to vegetation patterns in semi‐arid ecosystems. The framework quantifies global dynamics and most probable transition pathways between ecosystem states under random forcing.
