A possible interrelation between Earth rotation and climatic variability at decadal time-scale

open access: yesGeodesy and Geodynamics, 2016
Using multichannel singular spectrum analysis (MSSA) we decomposed climatic time series into principal components, and compared them with Earth rotation parameters. The global warming trends were initially subtracted.

Effects of rotation and topography on internal solitary waves governed by the rotating Gardner equation [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2022
Nonlinear oceanic internal solitary waves are considered under the influence of the combined effects of saturating nonlinearity, Earth's rotation, and horizontal depth inhomogeneity.

In situ formation of super-Earth/sub-Neptune driven by the planetary rotation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Kepler's observation shows that many of the detected planets are super-Earths. They are inside a range of critical masses overlapping the core masses (2-20 $M_{\bigoplus}$), which would trigger the runaway accretion and develop the gas giants. Thus, super-Earths/sub-Neptunes can be formed by restraining runaway growth of gaseous envelopes.

Comment on “Inner Core Rotation Captured by Earthquake Doublets and Twin Stations” by Yang and Song

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Yang & Song (2022, https://doi.org/10.1029/2022GL098393) first claimed existence of Earth's inner core differential rotation based on the waveform similarity of two neighboring stations AAK and KZA across an earthquake doublet and then postulated a local

Earth rotation prevents exact solid body rotation of fluids in the laboratory [PDF]

open access: yesEPL, 98, 59002 (2012), 2012
We report direct evidence of a secondary flow excited by the Earth rotation in a water-filled spherical container spinning at constant rotation rate. This so-called {\it tilt-over flow} essentially consists in a rotation around an axis which is slightly tilted with respect to the rotation axis of the sphere. In the astrophysical context, it corresponds

Empiric Models of the Earth's Free Core Nutation

open access: yes, 2009
Free core nutation (FCN) is the main factor that limits the accuracy of the modeling of the motion of Earth's rotational axis in the celestial coordinate system. Several FCN models have been proposed.

Multichannel singular spectrum analysis of the axial atmospheric angular momentum

open access: yesGeodesy and Geodynamics, 2017
Earth's variable rotation is mainly produced by the variability of the AAM (atmospheric angular momentum). In particular, the axial AAM component χ3, which undergoes especially strong variations, induces changes in the Earth's rotation rate.

Equivalence principle and experimental tests of gravitational spin effects

open access: yes, 2007
We study the possibility of experimental testing the manifestations of equivalence principle in spin-gravity interactions. We reconsider the earlier experimental data and get the first experimental bound on anomalous gravitomagnetic moment.

Pair Production of Neutral Higgs Bosons through Noncommutative QED Interactions at Linear Colliders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We study the feasibility of detecting noncommutative (NC) QED through neutral Higgs boson (H) pair production at linear colliders (LC). This is based on the assumption that H interacts directly with photon in NCQED as suggested by symmetry considerations

Enhancing the Age‐Hardening Response of Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion WE43 Alloy through Microstructural Control

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser powder‐bed fusion (L‐PBF) can produce dense WE43 magnesium alloy parts, but their mechanical properties are limited by a nonhomogeneous microstructure. This study investigates the effects of varying direct aging (T5) and artificial age‐hardening (T6) conditions on microstructure and strength. Optimized T6 treatment significantly improves strength
