Decompaction of metamorphic rocks under thermodynamic conditions of the Earth crust (experimental data)

open access: yesГеофизический журнал, 2018
A connection velocity—density inherent to the rocks of deep crust horizons is widely used while plotting concordant model of the Earth lithosphere with the methods of complex interpretation of geophysical data seeking for concordance of rated wave and ...

Gravity measurement to probe the depth of African-continental crust over a north-south profile: theory and modeling

open access: yesHeliyon, 2022
Based upon gravity measurements and calculations, the depth of the African continental crust is estimated. Taking as constraints the mass and radius of earth, and measured gravity, this theoretical method explores the use of gravitational potential to ...

MnI‐Functionalized Covalent Organic Framework as Efficient Electrocatalyst for CO2 Reduction in a Catholyte‐Free Zero‐Gap Electrolyzer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates the successful integration of a phenanthroline‐based 2D COF with MnI catalytic sites into a catholyte‐free membrane‐electrode‐assembly cell for CO2 electroreduction. The crystalline COF actively suppresses Mn⁰–Mn⁰ dimerization, achieving a turnover frequency of 617 h⁻¹ at 2.8 V (full‐cell potential), and enabling stable operation.

Occurrence State of Rare Earth Elements in the Paleo-Weathering Crust of the Tieling Formation, Northern Hebei Province by X-Ray Diffraction and Electron Probe Microanalysis

open access: yesYankuang ceshi
In recent years, the discovered paleo-weathering crustal rare earth ores have the advantages of stability and easy mining. However, due to the low degree of research on their element occurrence state, the study of the enrichment mechanism of the deposits

Melting of subducted sediments reconciles geophysical images of subduction zones

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Here, the authors identify that magnetotelluric conductive anomalies commonly observed on the trenchward-side of volcanic arcs in subduction zones can be explained by subducted sediments.

A geoneutrino experiment at Homestake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A significant fraction of the 44TW of heat dissipation from the Earth's interior is believed to originate from the decays of terrestrial uranium and thorium.

Bimetallic Nanoparticles as Cocatalysts for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Recent developments have introduced bimetallic nanoparticles as effective cocatalysts for photocatalytic systems. This review explores the rapidly expanding research on bimetallic cocatalysts for photocatalytic production of hydrogen, emphasizing the creation of carrier‐selective contacts, localized surface plasmon resonance effects, methodologies for ...

Long-lived Paleoproterozoic eclogitic lower crust

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
The nature of the lower crust and the crust-mantle transition is fundamental to Earth Sciences. Here, the authors provide evidence for long-lasting presence of lower crustal eclogite below the seismic Moho, challenging conventional models.

Fisher's “Earth's Crust” [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1882
THE verdict of NATURE on the Rev. O. Fisher's “Physics of the Earth's Crust” is that “One or two points do seem to emerge from this assemblage of calculation as fairly clear and established on tolerably firm foundation. Such as that the contraction of the earth by cooling is inadequate to the production of its greater inequalities.”..

Earth's rotation variability triggers explosive eruptions in subduction zones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The uneven Earth’s spinning has been reported to affect geological processes, i.e. tectonism, seismicity and volcanism, on a planetary scale. Here, we show that changes of the length of day (LOD) influence eruptive activity at subduction margins ...
