Advancing Emergency Nursing Care Through International Collaboration and Behaviour Change Theory

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Nursing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim In this paper, the development of an evidence‐informed, data‐driven strategy for implementation of the HIRAID emergency nursing framework in Thailand is reported. HIRAID stands for History including Infection risk, Red flags, Assessment, Interventions, Diagnostics, reassessment and communication.

Cold comfort for change: Stream mats as biological indicators of ecosystem processes in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract Glacier‐fed streams (GFSs) make ideal systems for studying climate‐related changes. Some of the best‐studied GFSs are found in the McMurdo Dry Valleys (MDVs) of Antarctica, one of the Earth's coldest and driest deserts. Despite their harsh and isolated nature, MDV GFSs represent an oasis of life in a landscape visually devoid of it, with ...

Government Spending and Civic Engagement: Exploring the Role of Civil Society Participation and Voting in 28 Democracies

open access: yesKyklos, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study offers causal evidence on how distinct forms of civic engagement affect government spending across 28 democracies between 2000 and 2024. Its main innovation lies in disentangling the fiscal effects of two channels of engagement—civil society participation and electoral turnout—through an original identification strategy that ...

Vertical profiling of shock attenuation at the Rochechouart impact structure, France

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Rochechouart, south‐west France, is a complex impact structure. Here, we present the first report of shock barometry of quartz from what are likely parautochthonous basement units at depth, based on samples from the 2017 C.I.R.I.R drilling campaign. The crystallographic orientations of 725 sets of PDFs in 512 quartz grains in samples from four

Virtual teaching and power dynamics: Implications for decolonial practices in LIC‐HIC educational partnerships

open access: yesMedical Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Global collaborations, particularly those between low‐income (LIC) and high‐income countries (HIC), may inadvertently reproduce the very power differentials they aspire to overcome. The Toronto Addis Ababa Academic Collaboration (TAAAC) is a partnership model deliberately built to follow a relational and invited guest model of ...

Invasive plants optimize leaf nitrogen allocation in photosynthesis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Invasive plants often outcompete co‐occurring native species by expressing acquisitive functional traits that promote high photosynthetic capacity. However, it remains unclear whether these traits are newly evolved in the introduced (‘away’) range or if invaders arrived preadapted with superior traits from their native (‘home’) range.
