Landslide model for slope of reservoir bank under combined effects of rainfall and reservoir water level

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
According to the landslide characteristics of the slope of the reservoir bank of Longjiang Hydropower Station in Yunnan Province, laboratory tests are conducted to investigate the characteristics of the landslide under the combined effects of rainfall ...

Advancing mine pillar design: Evaluating traditional methods and integrating AI for enhanced stability of pillars in the Great Dyke, Zimbabwe

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
B1 is bord width 1, B2 is bord width 2, L is the pillar length, W is the pillar width, red color and letter A represent the pillars, and white color and number 1 represent excavated areas. Pstress is the average pillar stress; σv is the vertical component of the virgin stress, MPa; and e is the areal extraction ratio. e = B o B o + B P ${\rm{e}}=\frac{{

Dynamic geo‐hydrogeological monitoring‐driven situational awareness for real‐time floor water inrush risk prediction in deep mining

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The fused data extracted from the distributed monitoring system as the data basis, combined with dynamic geological data, are imported into a deep learning model. As the geological conditions of mining and excavation change, the risk of water inrush at the working face is retrieved in real time.

Geological carbon dioxide storage in the German North Sea: Static‐to‐dynamic capacity refinement for a 10 Mt/y injection scenario

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study assesses whether a saline aquifer in the German North Sea can sustain industrial‐scale CO2 injection at 10 Mt/year over 30 years. A 3D reservoir model is used to compare static capacity with dynamically achievable storage. The work links site‐scale injection strategy design with basin‐scale pressure response, providing a framework for ...

Modeling and monitoring injectivity evolution during cold CO2 injection with field evidence from aquistore carbon capture and storage operations

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This work integrates 5 years of field data from the Aquistore CCS project with a non‐isothermal THM modeling framework to explain how cold CO2 injection alters injectivity over time. The study shows that sustained cooling near the wellbore reduces effective stresses, promotes tensile micro‑cracking, and leads to semi‑reversible permeability enhancement

Discriminant analysis for earth-rock dams' stability under the condition of exceeding standard flood

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2012
Climate extremes occur frequently and dam breach occasionally happens at present. It's very significant to present a fast and efficient discriminant method for earth-rock dam's stability under conditions of exceeding standard flood. However, this task is ...

Water Governance Under International Pressure: Policy Narratives, Food Security, Scarcity, and the Politics of Survival in Iran

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Water governance is increasingly influenced by a paradox at the nexus of environmental scarcity and food security. Escalating water scarcity crises coincide with geopolitical disruptions that have exposed the fragility of global food supply chains, prompting states to expand domestic food production at the expense of water conservation ...
