A possible characteristic of foreshocks derived from the evaluation of loading/unloading induced by earth tides

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
The detection of the potential of a larger event immediately after a moderate earthquake is a quite difficult problem. In this work, we devised an approach to determine whether an earthquake is a foreshock to a larger mainshock by evaluating loading ...

The earthquake probabilities of the Liupanshan fault zone based on the Coulomb stress and friction constitutive law

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk
As the forefront of the northeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau, the Liupanshan area is subjected to significant Cenozoic deformation. Considering the background of historical earthquakes and the current seismic activity, the Liupanshan fault poses a ...

Tectonic Controls on Near-Surface Variations in CH4 and CO2 Concentrations along the Northwestern Margin of the Ordos Block, China

open access: yesGeofluids, 2019
Tectonic controls on near-surface CH4 and CO2 concentrations were investigated by measuring CH4 and CO2 concentrations at the surface and a height of 1.5 m, in the different tectonic units that comprise the northwestern margin of Ordos Block, China ...

Adult‐Onset Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis Presenting With Subacute Cognitive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We describe the case of a 41‐year‐old man diagnosed with adult‐onset subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). The patient presented with subacute progressive cognitive deficits and a neuropsychological profile indicating predominant frontoparietal dysfunction. MRI showed only mild parietal‐predominant cerebral atrophy.

Selection Strategies for Flexible Pressure Sensor Electrode Materials Toward Ultrafast Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reveals, for the first time, how the electrode–organic interface governs the temporal performance of flexible pressure sensors. By pairing high‐conductivity CVD PEDOT with commonly used metal electrodes, the authors demonstrate that interfacial energy alignment dictates microsecond‐scale response, providing a straightforward design strategy ...

CH4 and CO2 Emissions From Different Tectonic Settings Along the Western Margin of the Ordos Block in China: Output and Correlation With the Regional Tectonics

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
The investigation of tectonic controls on CH4 and CO2 emissions was conducted by measuring the fluxes of the gases in the different tectonic units along the northwestern margin of the Ordos Block in China, a region renowned for its intricate tectonic ...

Uneven aftershock distribution of Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake and possible mechanism

open access: yesGeodesy and Geodynamics, 2011
The aftershock activity of Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake showed different spatial and temporal distributions along two different segments of the Longmenshan fault. This difference was likely the result of segmentation of the earthquake rupture process, which

Soil gas CO2 emissions from active faults: a case study from the Anninghe—Zemuhe fault, Southeastern Tibetan Plateau, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
Introduction: Carbon dioxide emissions from non-volcanic areas are undervalued in the carbon cycle. Methods: First estimates of diffuse CO2 flux from the Anninghe—Zemuhe fault (AZF), Southeastern Tibetan Plateau, China, which suggests this could equal 15%
