FENCAT—an update of the Fennoscandian earthquake catalogue

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International
SUMMARY The Fennoscandian earthquake catalogue (FENCAT) assembles data on the natural seismicity in Fennoscandia, Northern Europe. We present an updated and standardized version of the catalogue originally published in the early 1990s.

Procedures and toolsused in the investigationof New Zealand's historical earthquakes

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2004
New Zealand?s tectonic setting, astride an obliquely convergent tectonic boundary, means that it has experienced many large earthquakes in its 200-year written historical records.

Dynamic geo‐hydrogeological monitoring‐driven situational awareness for real‐time floor water inrush risk prediction in deep mining

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The fused data extracted from the distributed monitoring system as the data basis, combined with dynamic geological data, are imported into a deep learning model. As the geological conditions of mining and excavation change, the risk of water inrush at the working face is retrieved in real time.

Complex Versus Parsimonious Site‐Based Stochastic Ground Motion Models: Which One Is Better?

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stochastic ground motion models (GMMs) provide a probabilistic representation of seismic input and are increasingly important for uncertainty quantification (UQ) in earthquake engineering. This study focuses on site‐based stochastic GMMs, which learn the statistical features of selected datasets of seismic records and generate statistically ...

Discrimination between natural earthquakes and nuclear explosions using the Aswan Seismic Network

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 1998
There are many seismological differences between earthquake and nuclear explosions, but not all of them are observable at large distances or are applicable to every earthquake and explosion.

Analisis Tingkat Kegempaan Wilayah Jawa Timur berbasis Distribusi Spasial dan Temporal Magnitude Of Completeness (Mc), A-Value Dan B-Value

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Applied Physics, 2021
The Space and temporal distribution of the seismicity parameters consisting of magnitude of completeness (Mc), a-value, and b-value were estimated for the East Java, Indonesia using the International Seismological Center (ISC) earthquake catalogue.

An Intensity Measure‐Based Methodology for Ground Motion Orientation in Seismic Structural Assessment

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In current dynamic time history assessment protocols, ground motion recordings are mostly oriented along fixed sensor directions. Consequently, the orientation of the principal resultant of rupture energy, which may control the maximum structural demand, remains undefined, precluding consistent correlation with physically detrimental ...

Miocene to Quaternary Tectonostratigraphic Evolution of the Northern Section of the Burdur‐Fethiye Shear Zone, South‐Western Türkiye

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
New zircon ages reveal that lacustrine sedimentation initiated in the Late Miocene (Messinian), revising earlier Pliocene age assignments. The study results support the interpretation of the northern BFSZ as a broad left‐lateral transtensional shear zone rather than a discrete sinistral fault or simple extensional graben array.
