Investigation on hard‐rock breaking performance and auxiliary mechanism of picks assisted with both‐sided high‐pressure water jets

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper investigates the high‐pressure water jet‐pick combined rock‐breaking mode (HPC), which employs high‐pressure water jets to precut grooves on both sides of the picks. The rock‐breaking patterns and performance of the HPC method are obtained, and the auxiliary rock‐breaking mechanism of water jet grooving is revealed.

Relocation and integration of corporate libraries, and earthquake countermeasures taken

open access: yesJournal of Information Processing and Management, 2012

Analysis on relocation and focal mechanism of the Chengde ML3.6 earthquake on June 17, 2021 [PDF]

open access: yes
On June 17, 2021, an ML3.6 earthquake occurred in Shuangqiao District, Chengde City, Hebei Province. Based on the data of Hebei regional digital seismic network, the double-difference location algorithm was used to reposition the earthquake sequence and ...

Experimental study on burning rate and flame geometry in construction tunnel fires under high geothermal conditions

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract As tunnel construction advances in lengths and depths, the construction of tunnels in high geothermal environments has become increasingly common, raising significant fire risks. In this study, a 1:20 scale model tunnel test platform was constructed to investigate the effects of a high geothermal environment on fire behavior in tunnels during ...

The Favorable Settlement Relocation Process After the 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster in Japan by Evaluating Site Environments and Accessibility

open access: yes, 2014
As a new estimate, we analyzed a mismatch between public evaluation and planning decisions. In this paper, we call this mismatch “the failure of spatial planning for sustainable development”.

SPIDER: Scalable Probabilistic Inference for Differential Earthquake Relocation

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth
Abstract Seismicity catalogs are larger than ever due to an explosion of techniques for enhanced earthquake detection and an abundance of high‐quality data sets. Bayesian inference is an appealing framework for locating earthquakes due to its ability to propagate and quantify uncertainty into the inversion results, but traditional ...

Slip versus dilation tendency parameter space as a tool for prospecting structurally controlled geothermal systems in greenfield: insights from the greater Ruhr region

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study highlights that with the static and time‐dependent evolution of slip versus dilation tendency parameter space, structurally controlled deep geothermal systems can be selected within areas of higher permeability and lower seismic hazard. Abstract Faults play a vital role in the Earth's hydraulic system by facilitating fluid flow when dilating
