Structural Constraints of Induced Earthquakes in the Weiyuan Shale Gas Field Revealed by High-Resolution Body-Wave Tomography and Earthquake Relocation

Social Science Research Network, 2023
Increasing concerns have been raised about hydraulic fracturing (HF) due to its capability of triggering damaging earthquakes. Although there is a common consensus that local geological settings play significant roles in these earthquakes, to what extent

GrowClust3D.jl: A Julia Package for the Relative Relocation of Earthquake Hypocenters Using 3D Velocity Models

Seismological Research Letters, 2022
Relative relocation techniques are widely used to improve the resolution of earthquake hypocenter positions. Here, we present GrowClust3D.jl—an open-source software package written in the programming language Julia that builds and improves upon the ...

Relocation of Koyna earthquakes

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1980
abstractThe Koyna earthquake of December 10, 1967 was the most damaging reservoir-induced earthquake. It was followed by a long sequence of earthquakes which is still continuing. Precise locations of the Koyna earthquakes have been very much disputed as different locations of the main earthquake and stronger aftershocks were obtained by various workers.

A Social Explanation of Urban Relocation after Earthquakes

International Journal of Mass Emergencies & Disasters, 1996
This paper synthesizes the research record regarding urban relocation after earthquakes. Three alternative relocation responses after earthquakes are identified, the range of factors that have been documented to influence them are presented, and identified human impacts of relocation after earthquakes are discussed.

A note on relocating the 1963 Watsonville earthquakes

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1982
abstractEvents in the Watsonville earthquake sequence of August and September 1963 were found by Udias (1965) not to concentrate on the main San Andreas fault break. New locations are found using a more site-specific velocity model with carefully determined station adjustments.

Relocation of local earthquakes by seismic ray tracing

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1976
Seismic ray tracing is used to relocate a set of local earthquakes recorded by a dense seismic array in Bear Valley, California. The crustal velocity structure is two-dimensional and incorporates most of the known and inferred velocity differences in the region.
