Mechanical Decoupling Across the Deep Megathrust Boundary

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 11, November 2026.
Abstract We examine stress and strength across the deep subduction plate boundary at ∼60 km depth offshore northeastern Japan, near the downdip seismic limit of the megathrust. High‐frequency (2–5 Hz) moment tensor inversion of ∼2,000 M 2–3.5 earthquakes, integrated with existing catalogs, increases the number of focal mechanisms by more than a factor ...

Obscured Rhythms: Using Rhythmanalysis to Understand How Symptoms Associated With Menopause Shape Everyday Experiences of Physical Activity

open access: yesSociology of Health &Illness, Volume 48, Issue 8, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Physical activity (PA) is frequently promoted as a means of managing symptoms associated with the menopause transition (MT), yet little is known of how the embodied, emotional and temporal disruptions of menopause influence the experiences of, and possibilities for, movement.

Comparison of Mesoscale Crack Advance and Process Zone Element Approaches for Simulating Ductile Crack Trajectories in Steel

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 11, Page 4850-4862, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Rigorous application of continuum damage mechanics (CDM) models coupled with crack propagation schemes can predict crack branching or zigzag trajectories near the crack tip, even when the macroscopic crack growth is straight. This arises from oscillations in the local damage field and is consistent with experimental observations of ductile ...

Endothelial Matrin‐3 Limits Cellular Senescence and Lipid Dysregulation to Protect Against Murine Atherosclerosis

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 20, 31 October 2026.
Endothelial Matrin‐3 suppresses cellular senescence and protects against atherosclerosis. Matrin‐3 deficiency induces endothelial senescence, mitochondrial dysfunction, and activation of p53‐, cell cycle‐, and senescence‐related pathways. In atherosclerosis‐prone mice, endothelial Matrin‐3 deletion promotes atherosclerotic lesion formation and disrupts

Subsurface Deformation and Recovery From the Ridgecrest Mw 7.1 Earthquake Revealed by P‐Wave Velocity Time‐Lapse Tomography

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 20, 28 October 2026.
Abstract We investigate co‐ and post‐seismic P‐wave velocity (Vp) changes following the July 2019 Mw 7.1 Ridgecrest strike‐slip earthquake using time‐lapse tomography from 50,345 P‐wave arrivals (2011–2024). Co‐seismically, Vp changes correspond to the volumetric strain change lobes of the earthquake, increasing in compressional zones and decreasing in

The 2 May 2025 Mw 7.4 Drake Passage Earthquake: Insights Into Tectonics at the Shackleton Fracture Zone–Chilean Trench Transition

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 20, 28 October 2026.
Abstract On 2 May 2025, an Mw 7.4 earthquake occurred ∼120 km off the southern tip of Tierra del Fuego, at the transition of the Shackleton Fracture Zone and the Chile Trench. This event exhibits reverse‐faulting mechanisms with relatively steeply dipping planes and is the largest recorded along this complex plate boundary.

Constraining Fault Kinematics and India‐Tarim Convergence Partitioning in Southwestern Tibet With Geodetic Block Modeling

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 20, 28 October 2026.
Abstract How the convergent strain between the India Plate and the Tarim basin is partitioned by active faults and off‐fault deformation in southwestern Tibet is poorly understood due to limited knowledge of strain localisation and fault kinematics. In this study, we derive high‐resolution velocity fields for the southwestern Tibetan Plateau using both
