Cognitive and behavioral response of mosquitofish (Gambusia affinis) to environmental factors: Microplastics, predator cues, and detour design methods

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, Volume 107, Issue 4, Page 1139-1148, October 2025.
Abstract Urban stream syndrome is the collective term used to describe the physical and ecological degradation of streams draining urban lands that poses substantial threats to freshwater ecosystems. Among various consequences of urban expansion, microplastic pollution and shifts in predator–prey dynamics are prominent alterations to natural habitat ...

A critical reassessment of the novel weapons hypothesis and allelopathy as an adaptive strategy that facilitates plant invasion

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 248, Issue 2, Page 507-516, October 2025.
Summary Plants have evolved an assortment of chemical adaptations that integrate environmental cues with developmental processes to regulate growth and reproduction. A subset of these phytochemicals may be considered allelopathic adaptations if they enhance fitness by suppressing competition for limiting resources.

How a Decade of Different Tillage Intensity Influences Yield Response to Seasonal Weather Variations

open access: yesSoil Use and Management, Volume 41, Issue 4, October‐December 2025.
ABSTRACT Variability in weather conditions represents a growing challenge to crop yield stability and performance. This long‐term field experiment aimed to evaluate how weather conditions affect arable yields under contrasting cultivation practices: plough‐based tillage (P), minimum tillage (MT), and direct drill (DD), over a 10‐year period.
