Impact of Indochina Deforestation on the East Asian Summer Monsoon* [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Climate, 2004
This paper describes a study that investigates the local and remote effects of Indochina deforestation on the east Asian summer monsoon. During the summer months, the peninsula is subject to strong monsoonal flow whose downstream rainfall is of vital importance for China, where a significant fraction of the world’s population lives.

Foreign influences on tropospheric ozone over East Asia through global atmospheric transport [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2019
Tropospheric ozone in East Asia is influenced by the transport of ozone from foreign regions around the world. However, the magnitudes and variations in such influences remain unclear. This study was performed to investigate the influences using a global

Asian summer monsoon responses to the change of land‒sea thermodynamic contrast in a warming climate: CMIP6 projections

open access: yesAdvances in Climate Change Research, 2022
It is of practical significance to use the updated Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) models to study the impact of changes in land‒sea thermodynamic contrast (TC) on the Asian summer monsoon under different scenarios and to compare ...

Variation of the East Asian Summer Monsoon Rainfall*

open access: yesJournal of Climate, 2004
Abstract Rainfall variation of the East Asian summer monsoon has long been believed to be caused by the transition of weather regimes in company with the evolution of monsoon circulation. However, this claim was neither comprehensively analyzed nor convincingly demonstrated.

Deglacial variability of South China hydroclimate heavily contributed by autumn rainfall

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Deglacial hydroclimate in South China is perennially debated. New modeling experiments reveal that regional hydroclimate was strongly influenced by rainfall during the transition between the East Asian summer monsoon and winter monsoon, forced by climate

Mid-Pliocene East Asian monsoon climate simulated in the PlioMIP [PDF]

open access: yesClimate of the Past, 2013
Based on simulations with 15 climate models in the Pliocene Model Intercomparison Project (PlioMIP), the regional climate of East Asia (focusing on China) during the mid-Pliocene is investigated in this study.

The impact of Asian and non-Asian anthropogenic aerosols on 20th century Asian summer monsoon

open access: yes, 2011
[1] Studies into the impact of anthropogenic aerosols on regional summer monsoon rainfall have focused on a black carbon-induced enhancement and a sulfate-induced suppression.
