The Wider Europe Matrix. CEPS Paperback. January 2004 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This study is an attempt to think systematically about the enlarging European Union’s relationships with the rest of Europe and the arc of Arab and Muslim states that are Europe’s neighbours, from Morocco to Central Asia through Iraq – two vast regions ...

Crystal Growth Engineering for Dendrite‐Free Zinc Metal Plating

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This research employed the rare‐earth ion dysprosium (Dy) to modulate aqueous zinc (Zn) metal plating. Integrated multiscale experiments and computational modeling unveiled the preferential adsorption of Dy on specific crystal facets, which activated screw dislocation‐driven Zn growth.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

European integration and complementarities driven network alignment: the case of ABB in Central and Eastern Europe

open access: yes, 2002
The depth of industry integration between European ‘West’ and ‘East’ depends on the simultaneous existence of several factors, which, through mutual complementarities, align global and local networks. This paper takes the case of Asea Brown Bowery (ABB)

2D Co‐Mo‐Hydroxide‐Based Multifunctional Material for the Development of H2‐Based Clean Energy Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...

Populism in East Central Europe

open access: yesBalkans Legal, Economic and Social Studies
The term 'populism' is used to describe specific forms and techniques employed in contemporary political rhetoric and action. The term has experienced a significant increase in usage over the past few decades, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe, but also in other regions such as Brazil and the United States. Given the extensive use of the term,

Directional Flow of Confined Polaritons in CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
CrSBr, a layered magnetic semiconductor, naturally channels self‐hybridized excitonpolaritons into highly directional flow. Its intrinsic optical anisotropy, high refractive index, and strong lightmatter coupling enable long‐range guided modes along the a‐axis, with propagation lengths set by their excitonphoton admixture.
