First measurements of aluminum erosion by neutral particles on EAST tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2021
To evaluate the erosion effects of neutral particles on the first wall materials during tokamak operation, aluminum (Al) coated samples were exposed to a sequence of plasma discharges in 2018 and 2019 EAST campaigns.

[Retracted] The Application of Immersive Interactive Technology in Animation Teaching

open access: yesAdvances in Multimedia, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
In order to improve the interactive and immersive effect of animation teaching, this paper applies immersive interactive technology to animation teaching. In the light processing of animation teaching, this paper uses four‐step phase shift and PCA algorithm to process the interference fringes with vibration effects collected by the CCD camera.

Investigation of the Water Draining Process Pushed by Gas for U‐Type and Z‐Type Manifolds

open access: yesScience and Technology of Nuclear Installations, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
In the experimental advanced superconducting tokamak (EAST), the cooling channels of plasma‐facing components (PFCs) are familiarly connected in parallel through manifolds. According to the drainage performance of the PFCs, the amount of water trapped in the cooling channels is directly correlated with the type of manifolds.

Lithium splashing from flowing liquid lithium limiter and its effect on high confinement plasma performance in EAST tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2020
To study the potential applications of liquid lithium (Li) as plasma facing material, the third generation of flowing liquid Li (FLiLi) limiter has been designed and successfully tested in EAST tokamak H-mode discharges in the 2018 run campaign.

A machine-learning-based tool for last closed-flux surface reconstruction on tokamaks

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
Tokamaks allow to confine fusion plasma with magnetic fields. The prediction/reconstruction of the last closed-flux surface (LCFS) is one of the primary challenges in the control of the magnetic configuration.

Experimental investigation on effect of ion cyclotron resonance heating on density fluctuation in SOL at EAST

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2022
The suppression of high-intensity blob structures in the scrape-off layer (SOL) by ion-cyclotron range of frequencies (ICRF) power, leading to a decrease in the turbulent fluctuation level, is observed first in the Experimental Advanced Superconducting ...

Resonant mode effects on rotation braking induced by n = 1 resonant magnetic perturbations in the EAST tokamak

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
The spectrum effects on toroidal rotation braking, induced by n  = 1 resonant magnetic perturbations (RMPs) in the discharges with $q_{95} = 4.1$ and $q_{95} = 5.1$ , are studied in the EAST tokamak.

Observation of electrostatic fluctuations driven by runaway electrons in EAST disruptions

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
Electrostatic fluctuations driven by runaway electrons (REs) have been observed following a thermal quench during Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak–intended disruptions, which are triggered by massive gas injection. Electrostatic fluctuations

Zonal flow generation by modulational instability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper gives a pedagogic review of the envelope formalism for excitation of zonal flows by nonlinear interactions of plasma drift waves or Rossby waves, described equivalently by the Hasegawa-Mima (HM) equation or the quasigeostrophic barotropic ...
