Current status of International Beech Provenance Trial in Ukraine (Bu19_19) from the 1993/95 series started by Institute of Forest Genetics, Großhansdorf

open access: yesFolia Forestalia Polonica
The European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) is one of the most important tree species in Europe. In order to understand the breeding and biological aspects of the species, the Institute of Forest Genetics and Forest Tree Breeding (Großhansdorf, Germany) has ...

Beech bark necrosis: partition- ing the environmental and spatial variation of the damage severity in Central and South-Eastern Europe

open access: yesAnnals of Forest Research
The beech bark necrosis (BBN) infestation severity of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) was assessed in regions of Central (CE) and South-Eastern Europe (SE). Altogether more than 10,000 trees were sampled at 114 sites. Using variation partitioning method, we examined the pure and shared effects of stand, site, climate and spatial sets of variables ...

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances in the Duluth, Minnesota Area: Exposure to and Biomarker Responses in Tree Swallows Relative to Known Fire-Fighting Foam Sources

open access: yesToxics
Tree swallow nest boxes were deployed at sites proximal to two putative aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) sources in the Duluth, MN area, as well as along the St. Louis River and a reference lake for comparative purposes in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Crown characteristics in the beech stand damaged by ice storm in the Eastern Serbia

open access: yes
The paper presents the crown characteristics of beech trees damaged by the ice storm, as well as the structural and production characteristics of the investigated stand. The stand has been defined phytocoenologically as the mountainous beech forest (Fagetum moesiacae montanum) on different brown soils.
