Domestic chickens activate a piRNA defense against avian leukosis virus [PDF]
PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) protect the germ line by targeting transposable elements (TEs) through the base-pair complementarity. We do not know how piRNAs co-evolve with TEs in chickens.

ABSTRACT The problem of gas–solid interface charge accumulation is an important reason for distorting the surface electric field and then inducing surface discharge. The temperature gradient distribution formed on the spacer during the operation of a gas‐insulated transmission line (GIL) will aggravate the surface charge accumulation, further ...

Susceptibility inhomogeneity and non-Fermi liquid behavior in UCu_{5-x}Pt_x
Transverse-field muSR shifts and relaxation rates have been measured in the non-Fermi liquid (NFL) alloy system UCu_{5-x}Pt_x, x = 1.0, 1.5, and 2.5. At low temperatures the fractional spread in Knight shifts delta K/K approx deltachi/chi is gtrsim 2 for

Genetic and Phenotypic Features of the Five Known Polyaminopathies: A Critical Narrative Review
ABSTRACT Polyaminopathies are a recently described family of rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorders. Polyaminopathies disrupt the biosynthesis of the primary polyamines: putrescine, spermidine, and spermine. Snyder–Robinson syndrome results from hemizygous loss‐of‐function variants in the spermine synthase (SMS) gene, resulting in decreased or ...

Moderate prevalence of Blastocystis sp. was detected in cattle, sheep and goats (22.5%) in Qazvin Province. Diverse STs (ST1, ST5, ST7, ST10, ST14) were identified, including both ruminant‐adapted and common human‐associated STs. Females showed higher infection rates than males, highlighting potential host‐related risk factors. Presence of zoonotic STs

Eigenstate thermalization and quantum chaos in the Holstein polaron model
The eigenstate thermalization hypothesis (ETH) is a successful theory that provides sufficient criteria for ergodicity in quantum many-body systems. Most studies were carried out for Hamiltonians relevant for ultracold quantum gases and single-component ...

Damage‐limited resolution for X‐ray and electron microscopy of organic specimens
Analytical expressions for the damage‐limited resolution are developed and applied to X‐ray and electron imaging of beam‐sensitive specimens. The findings will guide future microscopy and instrument design.Analytical expressions for the damage‐limited resolution (DLR) are developed and applied to X‐ray and electron imaging of beam‐sensitive specimens ...
