Notes on Diospyros (Ebenaceae) in the Mascarene Islands

During the preparation of an account of the Ebenaceae for the 'Flore des Mascareignes' the following new taxa were recognized: Diospyros egrettarum, D. borbonica, D. hemiteles and D. revaughanii. These are described, and because out of the 14 native species recognized, only 4 correspond taxonomically and nomenclaturally with species at present

Antimicrobial potentials of Diospyros mespiliformis (Ebenaceae).
African journal of medicine and medical sciences, 1999The petroleum ether, chloroform, methanol, and water extracts of the leaves, stem bark, and root of Diospyros mespiliformis were studied for their antimicrobial activities. The crude extracts showed broad spectrum antimicrobial activities against 9 Gram-positive bacteria, 8 Gram-negative bacteria, and 6 fungal strains.
