EBSD of Ceramic Materials

2000
The term “ceramics” covers a very broad range of materials. By definition, ceramics include all nonmetallic inorganic solids, containing both nonmetallic and metallic constituents; the interatomic bonds thus usually have both ionic and covalent character.

Local Plastic Strain Measurement by EBSD

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2007
Work has been carried out recently, which demonstrates misorientation measurements recorded by using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) enables one to undertake local post mortem plastic strain quantification once the degree of misorientation is calibrated against plastic strain.

Beam broadening in transmission and conventional EBSD

Micron, 2017
Transmission electron backscatter diffraction (t-EBSD) has become a routine technique for crystal orientation mapping when ultrahigh resolution is needed and has demonstrated advantages in the characterization of nanoscale and micron-sized samples (Babinsky et al., 2015).

EBSD measurement tools

2020
This OSF project hosts a collection of MATLAB scripts developed for the analysis of Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) data, with a focus on microstructural and textural quantification in geological and materials science contexts.

The characterization of low‐angle boundaries by EBSD

Journal of Microscopy, 2005
SummaryA method of accurately measuring misorientations by electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), which is an extension of that proposed by Wilkinson and based on the comparison of diffraction patterns, is described. The method has been applied to linescans, and found to improve the angular resolution by a factor of more than 30.

EBSD - KIKUCHI-Beugung

2017

EBSD Study of Uranium Alloys

MRS Advances, 2016
Metallographical examination of Uranium alloys can benefit from electron back scatter diffraction (EBSD) technique. Various methods of surface preparation for microstructural characterization are described and compared. The aim of the study was to optimize the preparation technique for surfaces of U alloy splats for EBSD mapping, particularly in the ...

EBSD Analysis of SmCoFeCuZr Alloys

Materials Science Forum, 2016
In the present study, EBSD was used for the characterization of alloys used for production of SmFeCoCuZr magnets. EBSD is adequate for texture analysis, but may give misleading results for phase identification. EBSD is not suitable for identifying phases with very similar crystalline structure, especially when the phases are crystallographically ...

EBSD: Buying a System

2000
In the three articles that follow, manufacturers of commercial electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) units describe aspects of their systems. These articles provide a snapshot of the state-of-the-art hardware and software capabilities at the beginning of the year 2000. However, things are changing very rapidly in this new and exciting field.
