The role of EBUS-TBNA for the diagnosis of sarcoidosis – comparisons with other bronchoscopic diagnostic modalities [PDF]
SummaryBackgroundThe diagnosis of sarcoidosis requires both compatible clinical features and pathologic findings as a means to exclude other differential diagnoses.

EBUS-TBNA in a Case of Mediastinal Lymphangioma
Journal of Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology, 2012Mediastinal lymphangioma is a rare benign tumor that can be a cause of dyspnea. In our case, endobronchial ultrasound-transbronchial needle aspiration in addition to computed tomography imaging was a useful diagnostic tool in narrowing down the differential diagnosis of this mediastinal mass and to find a suitable therapeutic intervention.

Combined EBUS-IFB and EBUS-TBNA vs EBUS-TBNA Alone for Intrathoracic Adenopathy: A Meta-Analysis
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2022Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)-guided intranodal forceps biopsy (IFB) is considered complementary to EBUS-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) (EBUS-TBNA) for patients with intrathoracic lymphadenopathy either when additional tissue is requested for comprehensive molecular testing or for suspected lymphoma and sarcoidosis.

Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) is an evolving technology that has been used successfully to visualize structures adjacent to central airways that cannot be seen during bronchoscopy. EBUS-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) has been shown to be a well tolerated, minimally invasive, cost-effective, and accurate procedure in the sampling ...

Use of an Additional 19-G EBUS-TBNA Needle Increases the Diagnostic Yield of EBUS-TBNA
Journal of Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology, 2018Background: Although endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) has an excellent diagnostic yield, there remain cases where the diagnosis is not obtained. We hypothesized that additional sampling with a 19-G EBUS-TBNA needle may increase diagnostic yield in a subset of cases where additional ...

EBUS-TBNA in the Workup of a Mediastinal Mass
Journal of Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology, 2012Guided by endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), mediastinal lymph nodes can be reached in a safe, minimally invasive manner, allowing fine needle aspiration for cytologic diagnosis with a high sensitivity and specificity. In describing the following clinical case, we demonstrate the use of EBUS-transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) in the workup of a ...

Current status and perspective of EBUS-TBNA
General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2013In 2002, a new bronchoscope equipped with a convex type ultrasound probe on the tip was introduced into clinical practice. This convex probe endobronchial ultrasound (CP-EBUS) provides a long axis image of surrounding structures of the major airway. The CP-EBUS combined with a dedicated biopsy needle allows real-time endobronchial ultrasound-guided ...
