200 A GeV Au+Au collisions serve a nearly perfect quark-gluon liquid

open access: yes, 2011
The specific shear viscosity (eta/s)_QGP of a Quark-Gluon-Plasma (QGP) at temperatures T_c < T < 2T_c is extracted from the centrality dependence of the eccentricity-scaled elliptic flow measured in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

Active Metamaterials with Tunable Shear Nonreciprocity and Nonlinear Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Active gear‐based mechanical metamaterials enable simultaneous control of translational and torsional stiffnesses by 30–100×, break shear reciprocity under positive versus negative loads, broadly tune resonant frequencies, and offer programmable dynamic responses.

Macrophage Phenotype Detection Methodology on Textured Surfaces via Nuclear Morphology Using Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A novel machine learning approach classifies macrophage phenotypes with up to 98% accuracy using only nuclear morphology from DAPI‐stained images. Bypassing traditional surface markers, the method proves robust even on complex textured biomaterial surfaces. It offers a simpler, faster alternative for studying macrophage behavior in various experimental

Formation and Evolution of the Disk System of the Milky Way: [alpha/Fe] Ratios and Kinematics of the SEGUE G-Dwarf Sample

open access: yes, 2011
We employ measurements of the [alpha/Fe] ratio derived from low-resolution (R~2000) spectra of 17,277 G-type dwarfs from the SEGUE survey to separate them into likely thin- and thick-disk subsamples.
