Eccentric Behavior of Disk Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1999
A theory is developed for the dynamics of eccentric perturbations $[\propto \exp(\pm i )]$ of a disk galaxy residing in a spherical dark matter halo and including a spherical bulge component. The disk is represented as a large number $N$ of rings with shifted centers and with perturbed azimuthal matter distributions.

Stability and Formation of the Resonant System HD 73526 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Based on radial velocity measurements it has been found recently that the two giant planets detected around the star HD 73526 are in 2:1 resonance. However, as our numerical integration shows, the derived orbital data for this system result in chaotic ...

Approximating the inspiral of test bodies into Kerr black holes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We present a new approximate method for constructing gravitational radiation driven inspirals of test-bodies orbiting Kerr black holes. Such orbits can be fully described by a semi-latus rectum $p$, an eccentricity $e$, and an inclination angle $\iota ...

Cortical and behavioral sensitivity to eccentric polar form

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2011
Patterns composed of local features aligned relative to polar angle, yielding starbursts, concentric circles, and spirals, can inform the understanding of spatial form perception. Previous studies have shown that starburst and concentric form instantiated in Glass patterns are, relative to spirals, both more readily detected in noise and evoke higher ...

Eccentric Behaviors of the Brownian Sheet Along Lines

open access: yesThe Annals of Probability, 2002
The Brownian sheet is a centered, continuous Gaussian random field \(W(t),\) \(t\in \mathbb R^2\), indexed by the positive quadrant in the plane, with covariance given by \(E W(s_1,s_2)W(t_1,t_2)=(s_1\wedge t_1) (s_2\wedge t_2)\). It is one of the natural extensions of Brownian motion to higher dimensional time.

Numerical analysis of concrete-filled double skin tubular slender columns with internal circular and external hexagonal tubes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering, 2021
A new kind of double skin CFT has more benefits in construction of bridge and especial buildings due to easily multi beam connections for central columns.

Minimizing the eccentricity between the centers of mass and stiffness of structures with the optimality criterion method in the structural design process [PDF]

open access: yesمدل‌سازی پیشرفته در مهندسی عمران
In recent decades, significant efforts have been made to control the torsional displacement of structures, especially in high-rise buildings and irregular structures.

Positive and negative facial valence perception are modulated differently by eccentricity in the parafovea

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Understanding whether people around us are in a good, bad or neutral mood can be critical to our behavior, both when looking directly at them or when they are in our peripheral visual field.

Determination of new coefficients in the angular momentum and energy fluxes at infinity to 9PN for eccentric Schwarzschild extreme-mass-ratio inspirals using mode-by-mode fitting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We present an extension of work in an earlier paper showing high precision comparisons between black hole perturbation theory and post-Newtonian (PN) theory in their region of overlapping validity for bound, eccentric-orbit, Schwarzschild extreme-mass ...

SHEAR BEHAVIOR OF STEEL BEAMS STRENGTHENING BY PRESTRESSING STRANDS

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2020
Seven simply supported steel beams were tested to explain the effect of existence of external prestressing strands on the shear behavior of steel beams.
