Eccrine porocarcinoma

AbstractEccrine porocarcinoma, a malignancy of the eccrine sweat glands, is extremely rare. Our report and a review of the literature (70 cases) emphasize the features of this tumor. Age at time of treatment ranged from 19 to 94 years (mean 67 years).

Eccrine Porocarcinoma

Eccrine porocarcinoma is an extremely rare malignant skin tumor arising from the eccrine sweat duct unit (acrosyringium). It presents histologically with nests of clear tumor cells in the epidermis and superficial dermis. In addition such clear tumor cells lie isolated high up in the epidermis, closely resembling Paget cells.

We describe a 78-year-old woman with eccrine porocarcinoma presenting a zosteriform appearance on the lateral upper part of the buttock. Erosion and bleeding were observed in the center of a 50 × 80 mm, erythematous indurated plaque with an elevated border.

Our report and a review of the literature illustrate the natural history and pathological findings of this disease. Patients' ages at the time of appearance for treatment range from 19 to 90 years.

Epidermotropic eccrine porocarcinoma

Three cases of epidermotropic eccrine porocarcinoma are summarized and compared with reported cases. All patients had a long-standing tumor on a lower extremity that rapidly metastasized to the skin and proximal lymph nodes. The histologic picture was consistent with an intraepidermal eccrine sweat gland carcinoma.

The eccrine porocarcinoma is a rare adnexal tumor of human skin. It has been related to the acrosyringeum of the sweat gland. An immunohistochemical study on paraffin sections of eight porocarcinomas and a control group of 29 poromas was conducted to investigate the differentiation of porocarcinomas.

Periungual Eccrine Porocarcinoma

An eccrine porocarcinoma originating in the lateral nailfold of the third finger of the right hand of a 77-year-old man is described. The tumor showed infiltrative growth into the bone of the distal phalanx. Eccrine porocarcinoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of periungual malignancies.

Eccrine porocarcinoma of the face

Eccrine porocarcinoma is a rare tumor of the skin. We report a case on the chin that was successfully treated with Mohs surgery. In our review of the world's literature 105 cases were compiled. The tumor most often occurs in the elderly and affects men more frequently than women.

Vulvar Eccrine Porocarcinoma

A rare case of a slowly growing vulvar tumor in a 75-year-old woman is presented. This vulvar neoplasm was an eccrine porocarcinoma with left inguinal nodal metastases. This is believed to be only the second reported case of a vulvar eccrine porocarcinoma.
