Threshold Values of Sleep Spindles Features in Healthy Adults Using Scalp‐EEG and Associations With Sleep Parameters

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Sleep spindles are an electrophysiological fingerprint of the sleeping human brain. They can be described in terms of duration, frequency, amplitude, and density, and vary widely according to age and sex. Spindles play a role in sleep and wake functions and are altered in several neurological and psychiatric disorders.

A Wide and Deep Transformer Neural Network for 12-Lead ECG Classification

open access: yesComputers in cardiology, 2020
Cardiac abnormalities are a leading cause of death and their early diagnosis are of importance for providing timely interventions. The goal of 2020 PhysioNetlCinC challenge was to develop algorithms to diagnose multiple cardiac abnormalities using 12 ...

A cool ECG

open access: yesSouth African Medical Journal, 2017
The electrocardiographic changes of hypothermia are discussed in this case of a man who was brought to an emergency centre with altered mental status. The main ECG signs are a shivering artefact baseline, J waves, and PR-, QRS- and QT-interval prolongation.

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

ETP: Learning Transferable ECG Representations via ECG-Text Pre-training [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
In the domain of cardiovascular healthcare, the Electrocardiogram (ECG) serves as a critical, non-invasive diagnostic tool. Although recent strides in self-supervised learning (SSL) have been promising for ECG representation learning, these techniques often require annotated samples and struggle with classes not present in the fine-tuning stages.

Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) using FPGA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) are finding wide acceptance in medical systems for their ability for rapid prototyping of a concept that requires hardware/software co-design, for performing custom processing in parallel at high data rates and be ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene‐Assisted Patterning and Transfer of Silver Nanowires for Ultra‐Conformal Breathable Epidermal Electrodes in Long‐Term Electrophysiological Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel method using laser‐induced graphene (LIG) to enable high‐yield transfer of silver nanowire (AgNW) networks onto ultra‐low modulus, breathable silicone substrates. This approach creates ultra‐conformal epidermal electrodes (≈50 µm) for long‐term, high‐fidelity electrophysiological monitoring, even in challenging conditions ...
