Functional mapping of the human visual cortex with intravoxel incoherent motion MRI.
Functional imaging with intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is demonstrated. Images were acquired at 3 Tesla using a standard Stejskal-Tanner diffusion-weighted echo-planar imaging sequence with multiple b-values. Cerebro-

Sub-Millimeter T2 Weighted fMRI at 7 T: Comparison of 3D-GRASE and 2D SE-EPI
Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) allows studying human brain function non-invasively up to the spatial resolution of cortical columns and layers.

In this work, echo-planar spectroscopic imaging (EPSI) with flyback readout gradient-echo train was implemented in a preclinical MR scanner. The aim of this study is to visualize and quantify the ghost spectral lines produced by two, three and four ...

Background To evaluate whether readout-segment echo-planar imaging (RS-EPI) can provide better image quality in assessing bladder cancer than single-shot echo-planar imaging (SS-EPI) and to compare quantitative imaging parameters derived from both ...

Dynamic echo planar imaging of exercised muscle
Echo planar imaging was used to record dynamic changes in tissue transverse relaxation rates (delta R2) in the anterior tibialis muscle during dorsi-flexion exercise and recovery. Using a single spin-echo technique to calculate the change in relaxation rate produced by the exercise a time resolution of 4 s was achieved for each measurement of delta R2.

Beyond the otoscope: an imaging review of congenital cholesteatoma
Congenital cholesteatoma (CC) is a non-neoplastic lesion of keratin debris lined by epithelium found in the temporal bone. It is the lesser-known sibling of the acquired cholesteatoma and may be classified as congenital middle ear cholesteatoma and ...

Functional MRI with active, fully implanted, deep brain stimulation systems: Safety and experimental confounds [PDF]
We investigated safety issues and potential experimental confounds when performing functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) investigations in human subjects with fully implanted, active, deep brain stimulation (DBS) systems.

The undesirable aspect of echo-planar spectroscopic imaging (EPSI) is the occurrence of Nyquist ghost spectral lines. This phenomenon reduces the intensity of each true spectral line due to energy transfer into one or more ghost peaks.

Balanced multi-shot EPI for accelerated Cartesian MRF: An alternative to spiral MRF
The main purpose of this study is to show that a highly accelerated Cartesian MRF scheme using a multi-shot EPI readout (i.e. multi-shot EPI-MRF) can produce good quality multi-parametric maps such as T1, T2 and proton density (PD) in a sufficiently ...
