Variable Bandwidth Filter for Multibeam Echo-sounding Bottom Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The accuracy of a seafloor map derived from multibeam swath bathymetry depends first and foremost on the quality of the bottom detection process that yields estimates of the arrival time and angle of bottom echoes received in each beam. Filtering of each

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Evaluation of a hydrographic technique to measure on-farm water storage volumes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Digital terrain models of on-farm water storages are required to assist in accurately measuring the on-farm water balance and water use efficiency components including storage capacity, inflow, seepage, evaporation and discharge volumes.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

Anisotropic scattering in radio-echo sounding: insights from northeast Greenland [PDF]

open access: yesThe Cryosphere
Anisotropic scattering and birefringence-induced power extinction are two distinct mechanisms affecting the azimuthal power response in radio-echo sounding (RES) of ice sheets.

State of the Art in Swath Bathymetry Survey Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
In the last decade, advances in real-time computing and data storage capabilities have led to significant improvements in bathymetric survey systems and the single point echo-sounder has now been replaced by a variety of highresolution swath mapping ...

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Interpreting englacial layer deformation in the presence of complex ice flow history with synthetic radargrams

open access: yesAnnals of Glaciology, 2020
Fast ice flow on the Antarctic continent constitutes much of the mass loss from the ice sheet. However, geophysical methods struggle to constrain ice flow history at depth, or separate the signatures of topography, ice dynamics and basal conditions on ...

Radiofrequency ice dielectric measurements at Summit Station, Greenland

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 2023
We recently reported on the radio-frequency attenuation length of cold polar ice at Summit Station, Greenland, based on bi-static radar measurements of radio-frequency bedrock echo strengths taken during the summer of 2021.
