Cardio‐Invasive Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Lung Masquerading as Acute ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
The incidence of secondary cardiac malignancies is on the rise due to the aging population. A 63‐year‐old male presented with recurrent chest pain and anterior ST elevations on ECG, leading to primary PCI, but continued to experience chest pain and ...

Improved Knowledge of Pulmonary Hypertension Diagnosis Via Echocardiogram and Clinician Interpretation

open access: yes, 2019
Pulmonary hypertension is a frequent diagnosis in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), which can be clinically challenging to diagnose. An echocardiogram is a non-invasive heart ultrasound which is the screening test of choice for pulmonary ...

Cardiovascular toxicity induced by TKIs in patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia: Are women and men different?

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1447-1454, April 2025.
This study analyzes 148 patients (66 women and 82 men) with chronic myeloid leukemia treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors, focusing on cardiovascular adverse events. The risk assessment, performed using the HFA/ICOS score, reveals sex‐specific differences: venous thrombosis is more common in women, while arterial thrombosis predominates in men.

Pattern recognition of heart valve in echocardiogram using convolutional neural network / Muhammad Hanif Ahmad Nizar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
One of the causes of heart failure is valvular heart disease which can be diagnosed using echocardiogram. However, using this machine requires a degree of skill in order to locate the heart valves. We propose the use of a trained neural network to locate

Evaluation of Changes in Heart Rate Variability Associated with Puppy Growth Using Phase-Rectified Signal Averaging (PRSA) and Non-Gaussianity Index

open access: yesAnimals
Heart rate variability (HRV) reflects autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity through nonlinear mechanisms, including complex beat-to-beat fluctuations and chaos-like dynamics of healthy cardiac rhythms.

Asymptomatic Cardiotoxicity After High‐Dose Anthracycline Treatment in Sarcoma Patients Assessed by Biomarkers and Echocardiography

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Treatment of sarcoma includes high‐dose anthracyclines, which can cause cardiotoxicity. This study assesses the correlation of cardiac biomarkers and echocardiographic parameters on asymptomatic cardiotoxicity in sarcoma patients treated with anthracyclines.

Percutaneous Thrombectomy Using AngioJet in Acute Pulmonary Embolism With Clot in Transit

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports
Percutaneous pulmonary thrombectomy using the AngioJet device is a feasible option for the management of acute pulmonary embolism with a clot in transit in selected high‐risk patients. Further large‐scale studies are needed to better establish the safety
