Echocardiogram-guided resuscitation versus early goal-directed therapy in the treatment of septic shock: a randomized, controlled, feasibility trial

open access: yesJournal of Intensive Care, 2018
ObjectiveEchocardiography is often used to guide septic shock resuscitation, but without evidence for efficacy. We conducted an intensive care unit (ICU)-based randomized controlled feasibility trial comparing echocardiography-guided septic shock ...

Long‐term cardiovascular outcomes of immune checkpoint inhibitor‐related myocarditis: A large single‐centre analysis

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1237-1245, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) are the cornerstone of modern oncology; however, side effects such as ICI‐related myocarditis (irM) can be fatal. Recently, Bonaca proposed criteria for irM; however, it is unknown if they correlate well with cardiovascular (CV) ICI‐related adverse events.

Cardiomyopathy in Non-Ambulatory Patients with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: Two Case Reports with Varying Outcomes, Considering Novel Treatments

open access: yesReports
Background and Clinical Significance: Cardiomyopathy is a significant cause of mortality in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Key prognostic factors include the age of onset of cardiomyopathy, low body mass index (BMI), and poor ...

Early prediction of spontaneous Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) closure and PDA-associated outcomes: a prospective cohort investigation

open access: yesBMC Pediatrics, 2019
Background Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), the most commonly diagnosed cardiovascular condition in preterm infants, is associated with increased mortality and harmful long-term outcomes (chronic lung disease, neurodevelopmental delay).

Kawasaki disease: abnormal initial echocardiogram is associated with resistance to IV Ig and development of coronary artery lesions

open access: yesPediatric Rheumatology Online Journal, 2018
BackgroundKawasaki disease (KD) is an acute febrile systemic vasculitis that affects small and medium blood vessels. Intensified treatments for the most severely affected patients have been proposed recently, and the early identification of KD patients ...

Prognostic role of TAPSE to PASP ratio in outpatients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 912-922, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Few data are available regarding the role of tricuspid annulus plane systolic excursion to pulmonary artery systolic pressure (TAPSE/PASP), a measurement of right ventricular to pulmonary artery coupling, in patients with chronic heart failure and left ventricular systolic dysfunction.

Cardiovascular toxicity induced by TKIs in patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia: Are women and men different?

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1447-1454, April 2025.
This study analyzes 148 patients (66 women and 82 men) with chronic myeloid leukemia treated with tyrosine kinase inhibitors, focusing on cardiovascular adverse events. The risk assessment, performed using the HFA/ICOS score, reveals sex‐specific differences: venous thrombosis is more common in women, while arterial thrombosis predominates in men.
