Changes in left atrial deformation in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: Evaluation by vector velocity imaging. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
OBJECTIVES: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) represents a generalized myopathic process affecting both ventricular and atrial myocardium. We assessed the global and regional left atrial (LA) function and its relation to left ventricular (LV) mechanics ...

Mitral valvuloplasty using real‐time three‐dimensional transesophageal echocardiography

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology
Objective This study aimed to investigate the structure of the mitral valve in patients undergoing mitral valvuloplasty (MVP) using real‐time three‐dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (RT‐3D‐TEE). The main objective was to study the relationship

Randomized Comparison of Cardiotoxicity With 60 Versus 90 mg Daunorubicin in AML Induction Therapy

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
Early cardiac biomarker monitoring in AML induction therapy showed significantly higher hsTnT levels after daunorubicin 90 mg/m2 compared with 60 mg/m2, indicating a dose‐dependent early myocardial effect. ABSTRACT Anthracyclines are an essential component of induction therapy for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), but their optimal dosing and the ...

Dynamic Three‐Dimensional Echocardiography: [PDF]

open access: yesEchocardiography, 1994
In this article, we will attempt to review basic requirements for three‐dimensional reconstruction, methods of cavity reconstruction, approaches to gray scale tissue‐depiction displays, and current clinical experience, and also present some directions for future development. (ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY, Volume 11, May 1994)

Reliability of Early Fetal Echocardiography for Congenital Heart Disease Detection: A Preliminary Experience and Outcome Analysis of 102 Fetuses to Demonstrate the Value of a Clinical Flow-Chart Designed for At-Risk Pregnancy Management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Early fetal echocardiography (EFEC) is a fetal cardiac ultrasound analysis performed between the 12th and 16th week of pregnancy (compared with the usual 18-22 weeks).

ZSF1 lean rats – How healthy are they?

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study aimed to examine the health status, specifically the physiology and myocardial, vascular, and skeletal muscle function of lean ZSF1 rats by comparing them to age‐ and sex‐matched Wistar rats. Compared to Wistar controls, ZSF1 lean rats exhibited lower body weight, but showed increased heart, and skeletal muscle mass.

Effect of a reduction in glomerular filtration rate after nephrectomy on arterial stiffness and central hemodynamics: rationale and design of the EARNEST study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: There is strong evidence of an association between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular disease. To date, however, proof that a reduction in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is a causative factor in cardiovascular disease is ...
