The ionospheric responses to the 11 August 1999 solar eclipse: observations and modeling [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2008
A total eclipse occurred on 11 August 1999 with its path of totality passing over central Europe in the latitude range 40°–50° N. The ionospheric responses to this eclipse were measured by a wide ionosonde network.

Illuminating New Frontiers: Exploring the Photosensitizing Potential of Passiflora Species in Combating Methicillin‐Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Their Infection in Senescent Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
This study investigates the photosensitizing potential of Passiflora cincinnata in Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy (aPDT) against skin infection caused by Methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in a senescent murine model. The P. cincinnata exhibits antimicrobial activity, with reduced bacterial load, lower leukocyte infiltration, and ...

Ionospheric responses to the 21 August 2017 solar eclipse by using data assimilation approach

open access: yesProgress in Earth and Planetary Science, 2018
Using the physics-based thermosphere-ionosphere model (NCAR-TIEGCM) with an ensemble Kalman filter, this study reports the first data assimilative analysis of the ionosphere responses to the solar eclipse on 21 August 2017.

A Vascularized Microphysiological System Reproducing Endochondral Ossification in Vitro to Study Ewing Sarcoma Proliferation and Migration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A biofabricated 3D in vitro model recapitulating endochondral ossification (ECO) is described, mimicking the steps from condensation to chondrogenesis and hypertrophy, culminating with vascularization of the hypertrophic construct. As a model proof of concept application, Ewing Sarcoma cells are seeded in the model, showing modifications in their ...

Resolving the Surfaces of Extrasolar Planets With Secondary Eclipse Light Curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We present a method that employs the secondary eclipse light curves of transiting extrasolar planets to probe the spatial variation of their thermal emission.

The Eclipse of Thales [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1890
MR. PAGE, the author of a work entitled “New Light from Old Eclipses,” which was noticed in NATURE last April, has forwarded the following communication on the subject of the eclipse of Thales. The views which Mr. Page entertains on the subject of these ancient eclipses are not those generally accepted; but he believes a crucial test of the superiority

The Route to Artery Mimetics: Hybrid Bioinks for Embedded Bioprinting of Multimaterial Cylindrical Models

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The fabrication of a cellularized, multilayered 3D printed cylindrical model comprising hybrid bioinks inspired by the natural extracellular environment as an approach to artery mimetics, is presented. Using embedded bioprinting, interlayer crosslinking of self‐supporting concentric cylinders is achieved.

M 33 X-7: ChASeM33 reveals the first eclipsing black hole X-ray binary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The first observations conducted as part of the Chandra ACIS survey of M 33 (ChASeM33) sampled the eclipsing X-ray binary M 33 X-7 over a large part of the 3.45 d orbital period and have resolved eclipse ingress and egress for the first time.
