The GFCAT: A Catalog of Ultraviolet Variables Observed by GALEX with Subminute Resolution

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
We have performed the first systematic search of the full Galaxy Evolution Explorer (GALEX) data archive for astrophysical variability on timescales of seconds to minutes by rebinning data across the whole mission to 30 s time resolution.

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

A New Catalog of Am-type Chemically Peculiar Stars Based on LAMOST

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
A total of about 21,600 Am candidates were detected with the MKCLASS code based on the low-resolution spectra of the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope Data Releases 8 (v1.0), 9 (v0), and 10 (v0), which greatly expands the database

Eclipsing binaries suitable for distance determination in the Andromeda galaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The Local Group galaxies constitute a fundamental step in the definition of cosmic distance scale. Therefore, obtaining accurate distance determinations to the galaxies in the Local Group, and notably to the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), is essential to ...

Controlling 3D Contractility via Engineered Fibrous Hydrogel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A tunable composite contractile assembly (CCA) is developed that can permit or resist contraction without changing cell‐adhesion and density, unlike collagen whose inherent coupling of these ECM cues limits its use as a platform in contractility studies.

ECLIPSING BINARY STARS : LIGHT CURVE MODELS AND SOFTWARE

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
The importance of studying Eclipsing Binary Stars for the determination of fundamental stellar data is sketched. The eclipsing binaries, originally classified phenomenologically, are now understood on the basis of much firmer physics and the improved ...

Engineering a Sonotherapeutic RBC Membrane‐Derived Nanoparticle Platform for the Treatment of Liver Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, an RBC membrane‐derived nanoparticle (CMN‐ICG) is engineered to efficiently deliver a sonosensitizing agent, indocyanine green (ICG), for sonotherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). CMN‐ICG exhibits excellent cytocompatibility, significantly enhances hepatocyte uptake, and produces excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) upon ultrasound ...

β Cephei Pulsators in Eclipsing Binaries Observed with TESS

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
The combined strength of asteroseismology and empirical stellar basic parameter determinations for in-depth asteroseismic analysis of massive pulsators in eclipsing binaries shows great potential for treating the challenging and mysterious discrepancies ...

TYC 1031 01262 1: The First Known Galactic Eclipsing Binary with a Type II Cepheid Component

open access: yes, 2007
We present the discovery and CCD observations of the first eclipsing binary with a Type II Cepheid component in our Galaxy. The pulsation and orbital periods are found to be 4.1523 and 51.38 days, respectively, i.e.

Quantitative spectroscopy of close binary stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The method of spectral disentangling has now created the opportunity for studying the chemical composition in previously inaccessible components of binary and multiple stars.
