Covalent Organic Frameworks for Water Sorption: The Importance of Framework Physical Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the water‐vapor stability of 2D covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with varying pore sizes. Results reveal microporous COFs demonstrate superior stability compared to mesoporous ones, despite lower water uptake. Mesoporous keto‐enamine‐linked COFs show enhanced stability due to intralayer hydrogen bonds, confirmed by simulations and

β Cephei Pulsators in Eclipsing Binaries Observed with TESS

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
The combined strength of asteroseismology and empirical stellar basic parameter determinations for in-depth asteroseismic analysis of massive pulsators in eclipsing binaries shows great potential for treating the challenging and mysterious discrepancies ...

Eclipsing Binary Stars: the Royal Road to Stellar Astrophysics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Russell (1948) famously described eclipses as the "royal road" to stellar astrophysics. From photometric and spectroscopic observations it is possible to measure the masses and radii (to 1% or better!), and thus surface gravities and mean densities, of ...

Photometric analysis of the eclipsing binary 2MASS 19090585+4911585

open access: yes, 2009
We report on observations of the eclipsing binary 2MASS 19090585+4911585 with the 25 cm auxiliary telescope of the University Observatory Jena. We show that a nearby brighter star (2MASS 19090783+4912085) was previously misclassified as the eclipsing ...

Light‐Responsive Enzyme‐Loaded Nanoparticles for Tunable Adhesion and Mechanical Wound Contraction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a photoactivatable enzyme‐loaded mesoporous nanoparticle system (MPDA_PaTy) that enables light‐triggered tunable tissue adhesion and facilitates mechanical wound contraction. Controlled enzymatic crosslinking at tissue or hydrogel interfaces allows on‐demand adhesion.

Pulsations in close binaries: challenges and opportunities

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
CoRoT and Kepler provided a precious by-product: a number of eclipsing binaries containing variable stars and, among these, non-radial pulsators. This providential occurrence allows combining independent information from two different phenomena whose ...

X-ray Eclipses of Active Galactic Nuclei

open access: yes, 2017
X-ray variation is a ubiquitous feature of active galactic nuclei (AGNs), however, its origin is not well understood. In this paper, we show that the X-ray flux variations in some AGNs, and correspondingly the power spectral densities (PSDs) of the ...

Tailoring Microstructure in Copper‐Based Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks for Enhanced Chemiresistive Sensing and Uptake of Sulfur Dioxide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Precursor‐ and solvent‐mediated synthesis yields four Cu3(HHTP)2 morphologies with distinct physicochemical, sorption, and sensing properties toward SO2. Uptake capacities correlate with BET surface area, while sensing performance scales with particle aspect ratio.

VW LMi: tightest quadruple system known. Light-time effect and possible secular changes of orbits

open access: yes, 2008
Tightest known quadruple systems VW LMi consists of contact eclipsing binary with P_12 = 0.477551 days and detached binary with P_34 = 7.93063 days revolving in rather tight, 355.0-days orbit.

DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.
