Effects of Mealworm‐Based Synbiotics on Productive Performance, Egg Quality, Blood Metabolites, and Gut Health in Laying Japanese Quails

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
This study evaluated synbiotics combining Lactobacillus plantarum or a commercial probiotic (Parsilact) with 1% mealworm (Tenebrio molitor) meal in laying quails. Synbiotic supplementation did not affect feed intake, egg production, or feed efficiency but significantly improved egg quality, increasing egg weight and yolk proportion.

Responses to Ligand Binding in the Bacterial DNA Sliding Clamp “β‐Clamp” Manifest in Dynamic Allosteric Effects

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, Volume 93, Issue 12, Page 2193-2210, December 2025.
ABSTRACT The homo‐dimeric, ring‐shaped bacterial DNA sliding clamp, β‐clamp, is a central hub in DNA replication and repair. It interacts with a plethora of proteins via their short linear motifs, binding to the same hydrophobic binding pocket on β‐clamp. Although the structure, functions, and interactions of β‐clamp have been amply studied, less focus

Plasma sphingolipids predict advanced liver fibrosis development in patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 12, Page 7490-7501, December 2025.
Abstract Aims Patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) are at an elevated risk of developing metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), with a significant likelihood of progression to advanced liver fibrosis (AF)—a stage linked to adverse outcomes.
